Jacob Lopez didn’t allow a run in 7 2/3 innings while striking out 10 and leading the Athletics to a 6-0 win over the Nationals on Thursday.
Lopez threw 114 pitches in the outing, and he landed a whopping 82 of them for strikes. On top of that, he generated a strong 18 swings and misses, and he allowed just three hits in the contest; two of those singles. The 27-year-old has not allowed a run in back-to-back starts, and his ERA has dropped to 3.59 in the process. He’s worth streaming consideration — even if he’s due for regression — for Tuesday’s scheduled bout against the Rays.

Jacob Lopez pitched 4 1/3 scoreless innings before being lifted Saturday against the Astros.
Lopez wasn’t allowed to go for a win in a 1-0 game, mostly because he walked four and threw 95 pitches to get his 13 outs. He also gave up a 418-foot blast to Cooper Hummel in the fourth, but Daikin Park was able to hold it. It would have been a homer in 25 ballparks, according to Statcast. Lopez lowered his ERA to 4.29 tonight, but he’s not recommended in mixed leagues.

Jacob Lopez gave up five runs over five innings Monday in a loss to the Rangers.
He allowed only four hits, but two of those were homers and he walked three. Lopez had a four-start run last month in which he allowed one earned run in 23 innings, but in four starts since, he’s given up 14 earned runs in 17 2/3 innings, taking his ERA back up to 4.60. He’ll pitch in Houston next.

Jacob Lopez struck out five over five innings of two-run baseball in a win over the Blue Jays on Saturday.
Lopez gave up a solo homer to Leo Jiménez and an RBI double to Bo Bichette, but outside of that he was effective, and much improved from his shaky outing against the Giants on Sunday. The 27-year-old has held his own with a 4.20 ERA and 69/21 K/BB ratio over 55 1/3 innings, and he should remain a member of the Athletics’ rotation to begin the second half.

Jacob Lopez was hit hard in a losing effort against the Giants on Sunday evening, giving up four runs on five hits over his 4 1/3 innings of work.
On the plus side for fantasy managers, the 27-year-old southpaw did manage to punch out eight batters on the night while walking one. Lopez walked Willy Adames with the bases loaded in the first inning to force in a run, then served up a solo homer to him in the fourth inning. He then turned the ball over to the bullpen with two men on and one out in the fifth inning and both inherited runners came around to score. Lopez got 15 swings and misses on 88 pitches on the night, registering a CSW of 34 percent. He’ll bring a 4.26 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and a 64/19 K/BB ratio (50 2/3 innings) into Saturday’s matchup against the Blue Jays.

Jacob Lopez gave up four runs — three earned — in 3 1/3 innings Monday in a no-decision against the Rays.
Coming off three straight excellent outings in which he allowed one run and struck out 21 in 19 innings, Lopez didn’t show much against his former team. He managed just one strikeout and three missed swings in the 50-pitch outing, and Junior Caminero socked a 425-foot homer off him. Maybe he’ll fare better next time out against a Giants team that doesn’t know him nearly as well, but he doesn’t rate as a strong play in mixed leagues.

Jacob Lopez blanked the Tigers for seven innings, allowing just three hits and striking out six, in a win Wednesday.
Lopez has allowed just one run and fanned 21 over 19 innings in his last three starts, so it seems like time to start taking him seriously. The former Rays prospect doesn’t throw hard — he averaged 91.3 mph with his fastball tonight, and that’s a bit above his norm — but he’s always had a great slider, and he’s made some progress with a cutter, though that was a non-factor tonight. We wouldn’t trust him in mixed leagues, particularly in light of his sky-high flyball rate, but this is certainly impressive work of late. He’s due to make his next start Monday versus the Rays.

Jacob Lopez didn’t pick up a decision despite allowing just one run over six innings with nine strikeouts against the Astros on Thursday.
Lopez deserved better, but the A’s bullpen — particularly Mason Miller and J.T. Ginn — weren’t up to the task Thursday night. Lopez allowed just four hits in the contest, although he did walk three. That makes back-to-back outings with nine strikeouts for the 27-year-old, and he’s given up just one run over his last 12 innings. He’ll try and keep this going against the Tigers in Detroit on Wednesday.

Jacob Lopez struck out nine batters over six scoreless innings in a win over the Royals on Saturday.
Lopez had his best outing of the season on Saturday as he held the Royals scoreless over six frames on his way to a win. The 27-year-old left-hander scattered three hits and one walk while striking out nine batters on 15 whiffs. Lopez ends the day with a 4.80 ERA, 1.50 WHIP, and a 40/13 K/BB ratio across 30 innings. He lines up for an outing against the Astros in Sacramento on Thursday, but J.T. Ginn’s return from the injured list could move Lopez to a long relief role.

Jacob Lopez pitched well in a no-decision against the Orioles on Sunday afternoon, allowing just one unearned run on four hits over four innings.
The 27-year-old left-hander racked up five strikeouts on the afternoon while issuing a pair of free passes. The only run that the Orioles scored in the contest came on a pickoff error in the second inning. Lopez needed 91 pitches to get through four innings though, which caused the A’s to go to their bullpen in the fifth inning and cost Lopez a shot at a victory. He got 13 swings and misses on the afternoon — seven of those on his slider — while posting a CSW of 32 percent. Lopez now sports a 6.00 ERA, 1.71 WHIP and a 31/12 K/BB ratio over 24 innings on the season. He’ll do battle against the Royals his next time out in Kansas City on Saturday.
