Jacob Amaya struck out all four times up against the Padres in Saturday’s loss.
Zach DeLoach followed Amaya in the seventh spot in the White Sox lineup and also struck out in all four of his at-bats. Amaya is hitting .217/.280/.239 in 50 plate appearances in his late audition. One imagines he’ll be one of the first players bumped from the 40-man once the season ends.
  • CWS Third Baseman #44
White Sox optioned INF Bryan Ramos to Triple-A Charlotte.
So much for the White Sox giving Ramos an extended opportunity at the highest level. Chicago is seemingly going to roll with Jacob Amaya instead of Ramos for now as a reserve infielder and occasional option at third base. The White Sox continue to be the most confusing franchise in the game from a roster construction standpoint.
  • CWS Shortstop #15
White Sox claimed INF Jacob Amaya off waivers from the Astros.
Amaya, 25, has hit just .221/.308/.330 for the Triple-A affiliates of the Marlins and Astros this season. He plays a solid shortstop, and if he bounces back some offensively, he could make it as a utilityman. It looks like he’ll head to Triple-A for now.
  • HOU Shortstop #15
Astros designated INF Jacob Amaya for assignment.
Amaya was acquired from the Marlins back in early April and wound up only getting into one contest for the Astros. The 25-year-old infielder was a highly-regarded prospect just a few years ago, so there’s probably going to be some interest on waivers.
  • HOU Shortstop #15
Astros option INF Jacob Amaya to Triple-A Sugar Land.
Amaya heads down to the minors with the team needing to make room on the active roster for Grae Kessinger. The 25-year-old infielder was a depth piece for Houston while he was with the club and had just one plate appearance.
  • HOU Shortstop #67
Astros recalled INF Jacob Amaya from Triple-A Sugar Land.
The 25-year-old infielder will add depth to the Astros’ bench with Chas McCormick (hamstring) hitting the injured list on Wednesday. He’s unlikely to see enough playing time to gain any sort of relevancy from a fantasy perspective.
  • HOU Shortstop #67
Astros acquired INF Jacob Amaya from the Marlins for RHP Valente Bellozo and cash considerations.
The 25-year-old infielder had been designated for assignment earlier in the week when the Marlins needed to free up a spot on their 40-man roster for Emmanuel Rivera. Amaya was subsequently optioned to Triple-A Sugar Land where he’ll function as extra infield depth for the Astros.
  • MIA Shortstop #67
Marlins designated INF Jacob Amaya for assignment.
The Marlins needed to make room on the 40-man roster for newly acquired INF Emmanuel Rivera, so Amaya is the odd-man out after this transaction.
  • MIA First Baseman #26
Marlins reassigned RHP Matt Andriese, RHP Luarbert Arias, RHP Kyle Tyler, and C Paul McIntosh to Minor League camp and optioned RHP Roddery Muñoz, INF Jacob Amaya, INF Jonah Bride, and OF Victor Mesa Jr to Triple-A Jacksonville.
None of the players were a real threat to break camp with the team, but Bride has been solid in his first spring after coming over from Oakland. He’s slashing .263/.364/.421 with one home runs and six runs scored in 12 games. Amaya came to Miami as part of the Miguel Rojas trade last year and posted a fine season at Triple-A in 2023 but with Tim Anderson now in town, the 25-year-old is running out of time to claim a role in the Marlins’ infield.
  • MIA Shortstop #67
Marlins optioned INF Jacob Amaya to Triple-A Jacksonville.
Amaya’s stay with the big league club lasted just over a week — but he’ll return to Triple-A with Jean Segura (hamstring) returning from the injured list. Amaya went 2-for-9 (.222) with a pair of RBI and a stolen base in his limited action with the Marlins.
