Matt Chapman was named as the Rawlings’ Gold Glove Award winner at third base in the National League, marking the fifth time that the 31-year-old has received the honor.
Chapman wasted no time winning the award for the first time in the National League in his first season with the Giants -- impressively beating out Nolan Arenado to do it. Here’s the full list of Gold Glove winners in the National League (along with how many times they have won the award): C: Patrick Bailey (1), 1B: Christian Walker (3), 2B: Brice Turang (1), SS: Ezequiel Tovar (1), 3B Matt Chapman (5), P: Chris Sale (1), LF: Ian Happ (3), CF: Brenton Doyle (2), RF: Sal Frelick (1), UT: Jared Triolo (1).

Ian Happ was scratched from Sunday’s lineup against the Rockies.
This scratch came just before first pitch, and no reason has been given as to why Happ was removed from the lineup. There should be an update on his status before the end of Sunday’s contest against Washington.

Ian Happ went 3-for-4 with a pair of solo homers Tuesday against the A’s.
The second homer, his 25th of the season, came off a 103.2-mph fastball from Mason Miller in the ninth. It was the fastest pitch to be hit for a homer during the Statcast era. Alas, the A’s had a two-run lead at the time, and the Cubs came up a run short tonight. Happ has now matched his career high for homers from 2021. He’s overtaken his high for RBI; he’s currently at 85 after finishing last year at 84.

Ian Happ went 3-for-5 with two doubles and an RBI on Sunday against the Marlins.
The Cubs were somehow helpless against Adam Oller and the Marlins’ bullpen as Happ accounted for half of their total hits. It’s shocking for a player to hit two doubles or simply getting on base three times without ever coming around to score. Alas, Happ is having yet another solid yet unspectacular season with 23 homers, nine stolen bases, and a .797 OPS.

Ian Happ went 1-for-4 with a solo homer on Saturday in a 3-2 win over the Blue Jays.
Happ put the Cubs on the board early, taking Chris Bassitt deep for a solo homer to lead off the first inning. He’s been hot at the plate, with five home runs over his last eight games. The 30-year-old outfielder is up to 22 homers on the season while slashing .233/.339/.457 across 490 plate appearances.

Ian Happ homered, doubled and walked Friday as the Cubs topped the Blue Jays 6-5 in 10 innings.
He also scored the winning run on Seiya Suzuki’s single in the 10th, though he shouldn’t get credit for that; he was the automatic runner after making the last out of the ninth. Happ’s homer was his fourth in seven games and 21st in 116 games on the season. That matches his total from 158 games last year. He’s four away from his career high of 25, established in 2021.

Ian Happ slugged his 20th home run of the season on Monday in a loss to the Guardians.
Happ celebrated his birthday in style by homering and also recording multiple outfield assists in this one. He also walked three times, reaching base safely in four of his five plate appearances out of the leadoff spot. The 30-year-old is on pace to set a new career-high mark in the over-the-fence pop department and remains a solid-yet-unspectacular fantasy contributor.

Ian Happ launched a two-run homer and also stole a base on Wednesday, powering the Cubs to a lopsided 8-2 win over the Twins.
Happ gave Chicago a commanding four-run advantage courtesy of a fourth-inning blast -- his 18th big fly of the season -- off Twins reliever Cole Sands. He also reached on a fielder’s choice earlier in the contest and picked up his eighth theft of the year. It was another statsheet-stuffing effort for Happ, who is up to seven homers and 20 RBI over his last 30 games, despite compiling a lackluster .229 (25-for-109) batting average during that span. He’s settled in as a solid, yet unspectacular OF2 for fantasy purposes as a borderline top 30 option at the position for the remainder of the year.

Ian Happ is back in left field on Monday after missing Sunday’s game with a sore shoulder.
Happ is leading off tonight against the Twins. Mike Tauchman remains in the lineup for a second straight game, as Seiya Suzuki is getting this one off.

Ian Happ was scratched from the Cubs’ starting lineup for Sunday night’s showdown against the Cardinals due to a sore shoulder.
Happ injured his shoulder when he crashed into the outfield wall during Saturday’s game. The issue is believed to be minor and shouldn’t require the 29-year-old slugger to miss any extended time. He should be considered day-to-day. Mike Tauchman will start in his place in left field and will bat sixth against Miles Mikolas and the Cardinals on Sunday evening at Wrigley Field.
