Mariners signed LHP Ian Clarkin to a minor league contract.
The 27-year-old southpaw was a first-round selection (33rd overall) by the Yankees way back in 2013. Clarkin did not pitch during the 2022 season after posting an underwhelming 7.86 ERA, 1.85 WHIP and a 32/38 K/BB ratio over 68 2/3 innings between Double-A Hartford and Triple-A Albuquerque for the Rockies in 2021.

Cubs sent LHP Ian Clarkin outright to Triple-A Iowa.
Clarkin had gone back-and-forth between the Cubs and White Sox via the waiver process, but he cleared this time and is off the 40-man roster. He’ll give the Cubbies rotation depth in the minors.

Cubs claimed LHP Ian Clarkin off waivers from the White Sox.
Would it be cheating just to use the same writeup as we did in November, when the Cubs originally claimed Clarkin off waivers from the White Sox? The White Sox reclaimed him a week later, only to again drop him from their 40-man roster last week. The injury-plagued Clarkin will open 2019 in the minors, though whether that happens with the Cubs or some other organization is still up in the air. He had a 4.76 ERA in 12 starts and 13 relief appearances in a 2018 season spent mostly at Double-A Birmingham.

White Sox designated LHP Ian Clarkin for assignment.
Clarkin has been bouncing between the rosters of baseball’s two Chicago teams since the offseason began. The 23-year-old left-hander figures to draw some interest on waivers -- maybe from the Cubs again. A former supplemental first-round pick, Clarkin holds a 3.55 ERA in 349 2/3 career minor league innings.

White Sox claimed LHP Ian Clarkin off waivers from the Cubs.
Well, that was fast. Clarkin was just claimed off waivers from the White Sox six days ago, but now he’s already back with the organization. The 23-year-old is coming off an underwhelming season in which he posted a 4.76 ERA over 12 starts and 13 relief appearances between three different levels in the minors. It’s possible the White Sox try to sneak him through waivers again.

Cubs claimed LHP Ian Clarkin off waivers from the White Sox.
Clarkin spent the majority of the 2018 season with the Double-A affiliate of the White Sox, posting an underwhelming 4.98 ERA and 35/31 K/BB ratio across 68 2/3 innings. The 23-year-old former supplemental first-round pick will function as organizational pitching depth for the Cubs.

Yankees took high school left-hander Ian Clarkin with the 33rd and final pick in the first round of Wednesday’s draft.
Clarkin throws in the low-90s and shows potential with both his curve and changeup, so it would have been no surprise had he gone 15 or 20 spots higher tonight. Command has been an issue, and he’s not someone who figures to rise through the ranks rapidly.

Yankees agreed to terms with supplemental first-round draft pick LHP Ian Clarkin.
The high school lefty is on his way to Tampa to take a physical and begin his professional career. Clarkin got a $1,650,100 signing bonus -- the exact recommended figure for the No. 33 overall pick in this year’s draft.

Yankees prospect left-hander Ian Clarkin was placed on the 7-day disabled list in the minors due to a twisted ankle, but isn’t expected to miss much time.
Clarkin was selected No. 33 overall in last month’s First-Year Player Draft. He tweaked his ankle during conditioning drills, but his pro debut shouldn’t be far off.

White Sox acquired LHP Ian Clarkin, RHP Tyler Clippard, OF Blake Rutherford, and OF Tito Polo from the Yankees for 3B/1B Todd Frazier, RHP David Robertson, and RHP Tommy Kahnle.
Clarkin was the 33rd overall pick in the 2013 MLB Draft and is enjoying his best season in the minors to date, with a 2.61 ERA in 72 1/3 innings of High-A ball. The 22-year-old left-hander has had problems with injuries in the past, but his career seems to be on the right track here in 2017. It’s another top talent for the suddenly-stacked White Sox farm system.
