Jakob Marsee is patrolling center field and leading off Saturday’s Grapefruit League opener against the Mets.
Marsee hasn’t generated a ton of fantasy hype this offseason despite hitting .292/.363/.478 with five homers and 14 steals in a 55-game big-league debut late last year. The 24-year-old speedster doesn’t strike out a ton and boasts the on-base ability required to occupy the leadoff spot long-term. He’s come off the board right around 150th overall in NFBC drafts since the start of February, which makes him a top-30 range fantasy outfielder with 15-homer, 30-steal upside. Here is the full lineup: Marsee (CF), Agustín Ramírez (C), Christopher Morel (1B), Griffin Conine (RF), Connor Norby (3B), Heriberto Hernández (LF), Javier Sanoja (2B), Maximo Acosta (SS) and Ryan Ignoffo (DH).

Marlins acquired OF Owen Caissie, INF Cristian Hernández and INF Edgardo De Leon from the Cubs for RHP Edward Cabrera.
The 23-year-old Caissie is the prize of the deal for the Marlins, and he’s obviously ready for a major league gig after hitting .281/.380/.507 with 41 homers in 982 plate appearances for Triple-A Iowa the last two years. Still, his upside is in question, especially given that he’s been striking out 28% of the time in the minors. If the Cubs were particularly high on him, they probably would have kept him and given him a shot in Kyle Tucker’s spot next season. Most likely, he’ll turn out to be a decent enough regular, but not a guy who goes to All-Star games. The Marlins will probably primarily roll with a Kyle Stowers-Jakob Marsee-Caissie outfield, with Griffin Conine more focused on first base and DH.

Griffin Conine will get reps at first base during spring training, according to The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal and Patrick Mooney.
There’s an opportunity for Conine to emerge as Miami’s starting first baseman next season, if he adapts to the position quickly since there’s virtually zero in-house competition. The 28-year-old corner outfielder missed most of this past season while recovering from surgery to repair a dislocated shoulder, but was able to make it back for a handful of late-September contests. He’s unlikely to be a fantasy-relevant option at the cold corner, but the situation is worth monitoring in deeper mixed leagues and NL-only formats.

Griffin Conine went 1-for-5 with a solo homer and a pair of runs scored as the Marlins rallied from a three-run deficit to beat the Phillies in extra innings on Tuesday.
Conine got the comeback bid started with a 381-foot (106.7 mph EV) solo shot off of David Robertson in the eighth inning that pulled the Marlins to within two runs at 3-1. He then started the 10th inning as the runner on second base and scored on an RBI knock by Liam Hicks. The 28-year-old is slashing a solid .275/.342/.464 with two homers and eight RBI in his first 76 plate appearances on the season.

Marlins activated OF Griffin Conine from the 60-day injured list.
Conine returns for the final week of the regular season after undergoing surgery back in April to repair a dislocated left shoulder. The 28-year-old outfielder didn’t show any real signs of rust during an extended minor league rehab stint with Triple-A Jacksonville, slashing .292/.514/.583 with two home runs over nine games.

Griffin Conine will continue his rehab assignment at Triple-A Jacksonville through the weekend.
Conine, making his way back from shoulder surgery, is 5-for-16 with two homers and five walks in six games for Jacksonville. He’ll likely be activated Tuesday in time for the final six games of the season.
  • MIA Left Fielder #18
Griffin Conine (shoulder) will begin a minor league rehab assignment on Sunday for Triple-A Jacksonville.
Conine was expected to miss the remainder of the season after undergoing left shoulder surgery back in late April. The 28-year-old outfielder has a chance to make it back to Miami before the regular season wraps up. He’s unlikely to make a significant impact for fantasy purposes, but the rapid recovery puts him on track to be a full-go next spring.
  • MIA Right Fielder #18
Griffin Conine will miss the remainder of the 2025 season following shoulder surgery.
Conine underwent surgery for a dislocated left shoulder on Tuesday, which was when it was discovered that he would not be healed in time to return this season. It’s a brutal blow for the 27-year-old, who was in the midst of a breakout season. He should be healthy for spring training in 2026 and will hope to win a starting spot again.

Griffin Conine will undergo surgery on his disclosed left shoulder.
What kind of surgery is still be determined, but Conine will go under the knife after a consultation with Dr. Neal ElAttrache on Monday. His timeline will obviously be updated after the operation, but there’s a very good chance Conine won’t play again in 2024.

Marlins placed OF Griffin Conine on the 60-day injured list with a left shoulder dislocation.
It’s a significant loss for the Marlins as Conine is facing an extended absence and will be sidelined until at least late June, even in a best-case scenario. He’s slated to undergo a battery of additional tests and imaging to determine the extent of the damage after suffering the injury during Saturday’s contest against the Phillies on a slide into second base.
