Reyes has been outrighted before, so he can become a free agent if he’d like. He had a 4.50 ERA in three appearances for the A’s before being DFA’d on Wednesday.

Reyes had a 4.50 ERA in three appearances since joining the A’s a week ago. Before that, he had a 3.82 ERA and a 48/16 K/BB in 33 innings in Triple-A. It might be enough to get him claimed on waivers.

Reyes gets the call back to the big leagues following Oakland’s decision to ship out Lucas Erceg at the trade deadline after posting a 3.82 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 48/16 K/BB ratio across 33 innings (31 appearances) this season at the Triple-A level.

It’s a large batch of cuts, and there’s definitely some talent mixed in there, but no one who was truly expected to crack the team’s Opening Day roster. Jordan Diaz saw significant time with the A’s during the 2023 season and he’ll surely get another chance at some point in 2024. Estes is somewhat surprising, as he was absolutely dealing in Cactus League play — posting a 1.29 ERA, 0.43 WHIP and an 8/1 K/BB ratio across seven innings in his three outings.

The 30-year-old right-hander posted a miserable 7.45 ERA, 1.76 WHIP and a 10/6 K/BB ratio across 9 2/3 innings in eight appearances with the Angels during the 2023 season. With a strong showing in Cactus League play, Reyes could carve out a role in the A’s Opening Day bullpen.

Reyes unsurprisingly went unclaimed on waivers after being designated for assignment and will remain with Los Angeles as extra organizational relief depth.

Reyes has been removed from Los Angeles’ 40-man roster after making eight relief appearances this season.

Reyes was recalled Sept. 1, sent down Sept. 7, recalled Sept. 9 and now gets sent down again. He’s given up eight earned runs in 9 2/3 innings for the Angels this season.

He’ll take the place of the injured Luis Rengifo (biceps) on the Halos’ active roster. Reyes, 30, has made eight appearances for the Angels this season — posting a miserable 7.45 ERA, 1.76 WHIP and a 10/6 K/BB ratio across 9 2/3 innings of work. He’ll add a fresh arm in the middle innings for manager Phil Nevin to utilize.

Reyes has been sent back to the minors to make room for righty swingman Jhonathan Diaz to get the call back to the big leagues for the first time this season. The 30-year-old reliever has made eight unremarkable relief appearances this season for the Angels.
