Mets signed LHP Genesis Cabrera to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
Cabrera seemed like a candidate for a major league deal, so the Mets must have been pretty aggressive with their minor league offer to get him to take one this early. The 28-year-old was let go by the Blue Jays earlier this month after posting a 3.59 ERA in 62 2/3 innings last season. He has a career 3.89 ERA in 275 2/3 innings, most of them coming with the Cardinals.

Blue Jays sent LHP Génesis Cabrera and RHP Luis Frias outright to Triple-A Buffalo.
Both Cabrera and Frias will test the free agent waters after being removed from Toronto’s 40-man roster. Cabrera’s tenure with the Blue Jays is over after posting a respectable 3.34 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 70/35 K/BB ratio across 86 1/3/ innings (98 appearances) over the last two years. The 28-year-old southpaw was set to be arbitration-eligible this offseason for the first time in his career.

After coming into a tie game in the ninth, Chad Green gave up four runs while getting two outs to take a loss to the Mets.
The one hit Green gave up should have been an error on Luis De Los Santos at third, but Green followed that up by walking three batters and giving up two sac flies. After Green left with the Jays down 3-1, Francisco Alvarez homered off Génesis Cabrera. We wouldn’t be stunned if three of Green’s four runs are declared unearned in a scoring change. Still, he’s had a miserable run of late, giving up 11 runs in five appearances, and he might be in line to lose save chances to Cabrera.

Blue Jays placed LHP Génesis Cabrera on the paternity list.
Cabrera will be away from the club for the next couple days with hard-throwing righty Tommy Nance coming up to take his spot in Toronto’s bullpen.

Genesis Cabrera slammed the door on the Mariners in the 10th inning on Sunday, protecting a one-run lead to earn his second save of the season.
The 27-year-old hurler was given a one-run lead to protect with a man on second to start the 10th inning and he didn’t disappoint. He did allow a one-out infield single to Dylan Moore, and then a double steal that put both runners into scoring position, but he rallied to get J.P. Crawford on a foul out to third base. Cabrera then walked Mitch Garver to load the bases before getting Cal Raleigh on a fly ball to center to end it. Cabrera isn’t going to steal many saves away from Chad Green (and eventually Yimi Garcia), but he has shown the ability to get the job done when called upon.

Genesis Cabrera closed out the Athletics in the 10th inning on Sunday, securing his first save of the season in the process.
Interim closer Yimi Garcia worked the ninth inning and wound up picking up a victory in this one. Cabrera then took over after the Jays scored three runs in the top half of the 10th inning. All he did was allow the inherited runner to score while retiring all three hitters that he faced in order on ground balls to second base. On the season, the 27-year-old hurler sports a 5.25 ERA over 24 innings of work for the Jays.

After appealing his three-game suspension, Génesis Cabrera will sit for two games starting on Tuesday.
This stems from his altercation with Rays infielder Jose Caballero over the weekend when the left-hander pushed Caballero on the third base line. The benches cleared for both teams after the incident, but nothing came of it.

Génesis Cabrera was suspended three games by Major League Baseball.
The suspension stems from his role in the altercation with Rays infielder Jose Caballero. Cabrera will appeal the suspension, so he’s eligible to pitch until a decision is made. The southpaw was also fined an undisclosed amount.

Blue Jays and LHP Génesis Cabrera avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $1.512 million deal
The 26-year-old was tremendous after coming over in a trade with the Cardinals, posting a 2.66 ERA, 0.972 WHIP, and 20/6 K/BB ratio in 23 2/3 innings with the Blue Jays after sporting a 5.06 ERA in 32 innings with the Cardinals. He will retain his middle relief role in 2024.
