Angels optioned RHP Anthony Ortega, OF Terry Evans and INF Freddy Sandoval to Triple-A Salt Lake.
Ortega very likely would have had a spot in the injury-stricken Angels rotation if healthy, but he’s been limited to one inning by arm problems this spring.
  • LAA Second Baseman
Angels recalled infielder Freddy Sandoval from Triple-A Salt Lake.
Sandoval, 27, was also a September call-up last year. He went 1-for-6 with a walk one year ago and the same kind of results should be expected this time around.
  • LAA Second Baseman
Angels purchased the contract of infielder Freddy Sandoval from Triple-A Salt Lake.
Sandoval, 26, will get a chance to make his major league debut. He hit .335/.389/.514 with 15 homers for the Bees, but a lot of that was the product of hitting at Salt Lake. A switch-hitter, he does have a chance of putting together a career as a bench player.
  • LAA Second Baseman
Freddy Sandoval will be sidelined 6-8 weeks with a pulled muscle in his side.
He hurt himself recently during fielding drills. Sandoval has kind of fallen off the map since a big year at Triple-A in 2008 and was limited to just 22 games at Triple-A last season due to a strained elbow. His outside shot of making the team just went by the wayside.
  • LAA Second Baseman
Angels reassigned INF Freddy Sandoval to minor league camp.
Sandoval is still battling soreness in a side muscle that he pulled in early March. He won’t be ready for the start of the regular season and will probably be shipped to Triple-A Salt Lake once he is fully rehabbed.
  • LAA Second Baseman
Angels placed 3B Freddy Sandoval on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to March 22, with a left oblique strain.
Sandoval was optioned to Triple-A Salt Lake early last week. He has been sidelined since the early part of camp and will likely miss the first month of the season.
  • LAA Second Baseman
Angels sent 3B Freddy Sandoval outright to Triple-A Salt Lake.
The move clears a spot on the Angels’ 40-man roster. Now 29 years old, Sandoval last appeared in the big leagues in 2009.
