Franchy Cordero signed with the Seibu Lions of Japan’s Nippon Professional Baseball.
The 29-year-old Cordero played 24 games for the Yankees in 2023, hitting just .188/.211/.478 with six home runs but also 25 strikeouts and just two walks. In his seven year MLB career, Cordero hit .217/.283/.395 with 27 home runs in 251 games to go along with a 276/88 K/BB ratio. Cordero joins former Yankees RHP Albert Abreu, who also signed with Seibu yesterday.
  • NYY Left Fielder #33
Yankees sent 1B/OF Franchy Cordero outright to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
If there’s anything to remember about Cordero it’s that he’s been pretty consistent in the big leagues when it comes to launching the occasional unexpected clutch big fly, while also striking out at an alarming clip. The 29-year-old slugger got into 24 games this past season for the Yankees and might be running out of opportunities at the highest level.
  • NYY Outfielder #33
Yankees optioned INF/OF Franchy Cordero to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
With both Greg Allen and Jake Bauers returning from the injured list on Sunday, Cordero doesn’t have an everyday role and will head back to Triple-A so he can play full-time.
  • NYY Outfielder #33
Franchy Cordero came just a triple shy of the cycle in the Yankees’ loss to the Angles on Wednesday.
Cordero doubled and singled off of Angels’ starter Chase Silseth before crushing a 111.9 mph fly ball 392 feet for his fifth home run of the season. The veteran has tantalized with his raw tools for years, but continues to fail to put it all together. On the season, he’s hitting .194/.219/468 and remains off of the fantasy radar.
  • NYY Left Fielder #33
Yankees recalled OF Franchy Cordero from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
Cordero has been summoned back to the majors ahead of Friday’s contest against the Cubs with Jake Bauers (shoulder) landing on the injured list. The 28-year-old slugger has hit .148/.179/.389 with four homers and 11 RBI across 56 plate appearances in 19 games this season in the majors.
  • INT Left Fielder #33
Yankees optioned 1B/OF Franchy Cordero to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
Cordero struck out in his lone plate appearance during this most recent stay. He’ll continue to serve as upper-level depth for New York.

  • INT Left Fielder #33
Yankeed recalled 1B/OF Franchy Cordero from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
Cordero will take the place of the injured Harrison Bader (hamstring) on the Yankees’ active roster. After a quick start during his last stint with the Bombers, Cordero fell into a massive slump and ultimately hit just .151/.182/.396 with four homers and 11 RBI in 55 plate appearances. He should continue to be avoided for fantasy purposes.

  • INT Left Fielder #33
Yankees optioned 1B/OF Franchy Cordero to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
Cordero has hit just .151/.182/.396 with four homers and 11 RBI across 55 plate appearances in 18 games this season for the Yankees. The 28-year-old all-or-nothing slugger has been shipped back to the minors to make room for Harrison Bader to make his season debut.

  • INT Left Fielder #33
Yankees recalled 1B/OF Franchy Cordero from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
Cordero was just optioned out on Friday, but he’ll rejoin the big league club with Aaron Judge (hip) landing on the injured list prior to Monday’s contest against the Guardians. We have seen Cordero get hot and carry the Bombers’ offense for a bit earlier in the season, but he’s ice cold at the moment and slashing just .151/.182/.396 to go with four homers and 11 RBI on the season, so he can likely be ignored for fantasy purposes.

  • INT Left Fielder #33
Yankees optioned 1B/OF Franchy Cordero to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
Cordero got off to a hot start with Yankees, but he has fallen on very hard times in recent weeks. With his 0-for-3 effort on Friday, Cordero was slashing a ghastly .151/.182/.396 with four homers and 11 RBI. This move likely paves the way for Jake Bauers to join the active roster prior to Saturday’s game.
