  • MLB Second Baseman #65
    Giants released INF Ford Proctor.
Proctor got into seven contests last season for the Giants and has been cut loose after batting .230/.358/.335 with six homers and three steals across 74 games this season for Triple-A Sacramento. The 26-year-old former third-round pick offers plenty of defensive versatility and should be able to latch on somewhere else.
  • MLB Catcher #65
Giants sent C/SS Ford Proctor outright to Triple-A Sacramento.
Proctor sipped a brief cup of coffee in late September with the Giants, getting into seven contests at the big league level, after being traded from the Rays at the trade deadline. The versatile 25-year-old utility specialist has been removed from San Francisco’s 40-man roster heading into the offseason.

  • MLB Catcher #65
Ford Proctor hit a grand slam for his first major league homer Thursday against the Giants.
Proctor hit the slam off the Rockies’ Ryan Feltner in the second. The 25-year-old was making just his fourth major league appearance after being called up by the Giants on Sept. 24. He totaled 12 homers in 459 plate appearances for the Triple-A affiliates of the Rays and Giants this year.

  • MLB Catcher #65
Giants recalled C/INF Ford Proctor from Triple-A Sacramento.
The Giants are just playing out the string and call upon Ford Proctor for the last week of the season. Proctor can play everywhere around the diamond and will give the Giants and manager Gabe Kapler another pawn to move in his game of MLB chess.

  • MLB Catcher #65
Giants acquired C/INF Ford Proctor from the Rays for RHP Jeremy Walker.
Proctor, 25, has just a .635 OPS with six home runs in his first taste of Triple-A ball this season. With an ability to catch and also play shortstop, third and second base, Proctor’s versatility will surely appeal to new manager Gabe Kapler.

  • MLB Catcher #65
Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports that the Giants have acquired catcher Ford Proctor from the Rays.
Chandler Rome of Houston Chronicle says it will be reliever Jeremy Walker going to the Rays. Proctor can play all over the infield in addition to catcher.

  • TB Starting Pitcher #65
Rays optioned LHP Brendan McKay, INF Jonathan Aranda, RHP Calvin Faucher, and C’s René Pinto and Ford Proctor to Triple-A Durham; reassigned LHP Zack Erwin and RHP’s Adrian De Horta, David Hess, David McKay and Aaron Slegers to minor league camp.
The first cuts from Rays’ spring training trim their big-league camp roster to 42 players. McKay, who is recovering from thoracic outlet syndrome surgery, is the most notable of the inclusions. Hess and Slegers are the most likely relievers to make an impact this season in Tampa Bay.

  • MLB Catcher #65
Ford Proctor had a three-run homer and a walk in his two plate appearances against the Red Sox on Friday.
Proctor was added to the Rays’ 40-man roster in November after hitting .244/.381/.419 in Double-A last year. The Rice product was a middle infielder until last year, when the Rays turned him into a catcher. He’s probably going to be a utilityman in the majors, but the Rays will let him try to continue to grow behind the plate in Triple-A this year.

  • MLB Catcher #65
Rays purchased the contract of C Ford Proctor from Double-A Montgomery.
Proctor has been added to the Rays’ 40-man roster and will be protected from selection in next month’s Rule 5 Draft. The 24-year-old catcher hit .244/.381/.419 with 12 home runs over 381 plate appearances at Double-A Montgomery last year.
