Manager Bob Brenly isn’t convinced that Felix Jose (hip flexor) is ready to play the outfield.

The hip injuries to Jose and Raul Mondesi could cause the D’Backs to employ Carlos Baerga as the DH today, with Danny Bautista, Quinton McCracken and Robby Hammock as possible replacements for Mondesi in right field.

Jose, 38, recently completed his season in the independent Mexican League batting .377 with 19 home runs and 83 RBI. Jose would be used mostly off the bench if the D’Backs added him.
