  • ATL Relief Pitcher
Phillies acquired RHPs Ethan Martin and Josh Lindblom and a player to be named later or cash considerations from the Dodgers for OF Shane Victorino.
Martin’s star has faded a bit since he was a 2008 first-round pick, but the 23-year-old has rebounded this season by posting a 3.58 ERA and 112/61 K/BB ratio in 118 innings this season with Double-A Chattanooga. The hard-throwing right-hander has averaged 4.7 BB/9, which is actually an improvement from his 5.7 BB/9 average. He still has a chance to make it as a starter in the big leagues.
  • ATL Relief Pitcher
Phillies purchased the contract of RHP Ethan Martin from Double-A Reading.
Martin was acquired from the Dodgers this summer for outfielder Shane Victorino. The young right-hander wound up with a 3.18 ERA in 39 2/3 innings for Reading.
  • ATL Relief Pitcher
The Phillies have demoted Ethan Martin to the bullpen for the remainder of the season.
To say that Martin has struggled to this point would be a bit of an understatement. The 24-year-old righty has posted a 6.90 ERA, 1.80 WHIP and 34/21 K/BB ratio over 30 innings in his first seven starts. He’s plenty talented, but needs to significantly improve him command if he wants to stick in the Phillies rotation in 2014.
  • ATL Relief Pitcher
Ethan Martin pitched decently in a spot start against the Braves on Saturday, surrendering just one run on four hits over three innings.
Martin struck out a pair and issued one free pass on the night. The only blemish on his night was a sacrifice fly by Freddie Freeman in the first inning. The 24-year-old right-hander finishes his rookie season with an uninspiring 6.08 ERA, 1.70 WHIP and 47/26 K/BB ratio in 40 innings. He’s almost assuredly slated for more minor league seasoning to begin the 2014 campaign.
  • ATL Relief Pitcher
Ethan Martin has officially been tabbed as the Phillies starter for Saturday’s contest against the Braves.
Martin is expected to work three innings in the contest before turning the game over to the Phillies bullpen. Fantasy owners can continue to look elsewhere for streaming options.
  • SEA Relief Pitcher #88
Tyler Cloyd will take Ethan Martin’s spot in the Phillies’ rotation.
Martin has struck out over a batter per inning, but he holds a 6.90 ERA and 1.80 WHIP and simply wasn’t pitching deep enough into games. Cloyd has put up a 3.57 ERA and 1.50 WHIP across 45 1/3 frames this season. He’ll start next week against the Padres.
  • ATL Relief Pitcher
Ethan Martin is expected to start for the Phillies on Saturday in place of the injured Roy Halladay.
The Phillies haven’t officially announced the move. Martin, who was demoted to the bullpen earlier in the month, is only expected to work two or three innings in the ballgame and remains a very poor fantasy option.
  • ATL Relief Pitcher
Ethan Martin was pulled in the first inning of his start Saturday night against the Diamondbacks.
Martin yielded three hits, three walks and three earned runs in the top of the first inning while securing only two outs. The 24-year-old right-hander has a brutal 6.33 ERA and 1.78 WHIP in five starts this season.
  • ATL Relief Pitcher
Ethan Martin struck out a career-high nine batters Thursday against the Mets, but gave up three runs over four innings before exiting.
Martin also gave up four hits and three walks, so he exhausted his pitch count early. The 25-year-old has 32 strikeouts over his first 25 1/3 innings in the majors, but he has also allowed 29 hits and walked 16 batters. He’s a risky fantasy play.
  • ATL Relief Pitcher
Ethan Martin was charged with five runs on four hits and five walks over just 4 2/3 frames in Tuesday’s loss to the Nationals.
He allowed a three-run jack in the second inning, a longball that was preceded by a hit by pitch and a walk. Martin has struck out 34 over 30 innings for the Phillies, but he’s also walked 21 and holds a 6.90 ERA. Fantasy owners should steer clear of him next week at home against the Padres.
