  • Relief Pitcher #53
Padres reassigned RHP’s Aaron Brooks and Eric Hanhold to minor league camp.
Brooks and Hanhold represent viable extra relief depth for the Padres, but were considered extreme long shots to make the season-opening roster. The latest cuts slash the Padres’ spring roster to just 53 players.

  • FA Relief Pitcher #63
Padres signed RHP Eric Hanhold to a minor league contract.
Hanhold spent all of last season at Triple-A Indianapolis, finishing with a 3.40 ERA, 1.34 WHIP, and 49/24 K/BB ratio across 53 innings (27 appearances). The 29-year-old righty has made 13 relief appearances between the Orioles and Mets dating back to 2018. He’ll function as organizational relief depth this season for San Diego.

  • FA Relief Pitcher #63
Eric Hanhold has elected free agency.
The Pirates claimed Hanhold after he was designated for assignment by the Orioles in early March. The 28-year-old spent the entire season in Triple-A Indianapolis and posted a 3.40 ERA, 1.34 WHIP, and 49/24 K/BB ratio over 53 innings. He will look to join another team this offseason, most likely on a minor league contract.

  • WAS Relief Pitcher #68
Pirates optioned RHP Adonis Medina to Triple-A Indianapolis; reassigned RHPs Austin Brice, Eric Handhold and Chase De Jong to minor league camp.
Medina was claimed off waivers from the Phillies last month and wasn’t able to secure a spot on the Pirates’ Opening Day roster. The 24-year-old righty holds a serviceable 3.86 ERA, 1.63 WHIP and 10/7 K/BB ratio across 11 2/3 innings (five appearances, two starts) at the major-league level since 2020.

  • FA Relief Pitcher #63
Pirates sent RHP Eric Hanhold outright to Triple-A Indianapolis.
Hanhold cleared waivers and will remain with the Pirates after being designated for assignment last Friday. The 28-year-old righty, who was gobbled up off waivers from the Orioles back in November, will remain in camp as a non-roster invitee before opening the 2022 season as extra relief depth at Triple-A Indianapolis. He made 10 appearances last year in the majors with the Orioles.

  • FA Relief Pitcher #63
Pirates designated RHP Eric Hanhold for assignment.
The team needed to clear a 40-man roster spot after claiming Adonis Medina off waivers earlier this week. Hanhold himself was a waiver claim by the Pirates earlier in the offseason.

  • FA Relief Pitcher #63
Pirates claimed RHP Eric Hanhold off waivers from the Orioles.
Hanhold was jettisoned from the Orioles’ 40-man roster and promptly scooped up by the Pirates. The 28-year-old righty reliever allowed eight runs on nine hits with a 6/3 K/BB ratio across 10 1/3 innings (10 appearances) with the Orioles last year. He’ll give the Pirates some additional relief depth moving forward.

  • FA Relief Pitcher #63
Orioles selected the contract of RHP Eric Hanhold from Triple-A Norfolk
The 27-year-old has not pitched in the major leagues since 2018 and is carrying a 5.19 ERA and 1.69 WHIP over 26 frames in Triple-A this season. There is nothing to see here.

  • BAL Relief Pitcher #52
Branden Kline and Eric Hanhold have been sent to the Orioles’ auxiliary training site in Bowie, Maryland.
Teams are beginning to trim down the number of players in major league camp in anticipation of Opening Day next week. Kline struggled to a 5.93 ERA and 34/19 K/BB ratio in 41 innings of work last season for Baltimore, but the 28-year-old right-hander could get another look with the O’s at some point in 2020.

  • FA Relief Pitcher #63
Orioles sent RHP Eric Hanhold outright to Triple-A Norfolk.
Hanhold had been designated for assignment, but he has cleared waivers and will remain in the organization as relief depth.
