The Blue Jays plan to promote first baseman Eric Crozier, shortstop Russ Adams and catcher Guillermo Quiroz from Triple-A Syracuse when rosters expand Wednesday.

Crozier is the one with a chance of having some fantasy value next month. Adams and Quiroz will get a little playing time, but Crozier could take over as the primary DH.

''Playing the outfield may give him an opportunity in the future,’' said manager John Gibbons. Crozier should start the season in the minors, but should get the call the first time the team needs a power bat.

Yankees claimed first baseman Eric Crozier off waivers from the Blue Jays and optioned him to Double-A Trenton.

Crozier shouldn’t ever be good enough to play for baseball’s $200 million team. The 26-year-old was hitting just .226/.281/.460 for Triple-A Syracuse before being removed from the Jays’ 40-man roster.

Crozier, claimed off waivers from the Jays in May, was hitting just .174/.235/.298 for Double-A Trenton. The Yankees were expecting a little more production from the soon-to-be 27-year-old.
