Brewers signed first-round pick INF Eric Brown Jr.
Jim Callis of MLB.com reports that Brown will receive a signing bonus of $2.15 million, which is well under the slot value of $2,701,900 for the 27th overall selection. The 21-year-old shortstop slashed .330/.460/.544 with seven homers, 40 RBI and 12 stolen bases in 57 games during his junior season at Coastal Carolina.

Brewers selected Coastal Carolina INF Eric Brown with the 27th pick of the 2022 MLB Draft.
Brown has one of the weirdest set-ups of any player in the draft, but it works for him. The infielder doesn’t have a standout tool, but everything projects at least average, and the fact he can play shortstop makes those tools play up. This doesn’t appear to be a fantasy superstar, but the defense is good enough that he has a chance to be a regular at the highest level.
