  • BOS Third Baseman #47
Red Sox recalled INF Enmanuel Valdez from Triple-A Worcester.
Valdez, who has hit .224/.282/.400 in 189 plate appearances for the Red Sox this season, will join Nick Sogard, Romy Gonzalez and Mickey Gasper in the mix at second base for now. The Red Sox might get Trevor Story back later this month, pushing Ceddanne Rafaela to second.
  • BOS Third Baseman #47
The Red Sox plan to recall Enmanuel Valdez and Chase Shugart from Triple-A Worcester when rosters expand on Sunday.
The reason for the decision to promote Valdez instead of Vaughn Grissom is due to the fact that Grissom needs every day at-bats so they don’t want him playing sporadically at the big-league level. Valdez has hit .224/.282/.400 with six homers and 27 RBI in 170 at-bats with the Red Sox this season.
  • BOS Third Baseman #47
Red Sox optioned Enmanuel Valdez to Triple-A Worcester.
Jarren Duran’s suspension is over, so Valdez goes to make room. He was 1-for-6 in his latest stint with the Red Sox. He’s hit .224/.282/.400 in 189 plate appearances overall this season.
  • BOS Third Baseman #47
Red Sox recalled INF Enmanuel Valdez from Triple-A Worcester.
With Tyler O’Neill (calf infection) unexpectedly hitting the injured list on Wednesday, Valdez will add depth to the Red Sox’ bench. The 25-year-old infielder has hit .226/.282/.402 with six homers, 26 RBI and one stolen base in 182 plate appearances with the big-league club this season.
  • BOS Third Baseman #47
Red Sox optioned Enmanuel Valdez to Triple-A Worcester.
It’s a little surprising to see Valdez head to the minors now, as he’s swung the bat well since the start of June with a slash of .290/.380/.577 in that month, and he’s 5-for-11 in his limited action in July. Regardless, he’ll return to the minors with Jamie Westbrook taking his place on the roster.
  • BOS Shortstop #70
David Hamilton is not in the Red Sox’ starting lineup once again with an opposing southpaw on the hill on Friday.
The 26-year-old speedster has seen his playing time squeezed as of late, as he hasn’t even been a regular against right-handed pitching this week. Once again, Enmanuel Valdez will start in his place at second base and will bat eighth for the Red Sox against Nestor Cortes and the Yankees on Friday night.
  • BOS Shortstop #70
David Hamilton is not in the lineup for Tuesday’s series opener against the Marlins.
Hamilton grabs a seat on the bench with Marlins rookie Valente Bellozo taking the ball to open Tuesday’s showdown in Miami. The 26-year-old has been forced to split time with fellow youngster Enmanuel Valdez at the keystone over the last few weeks, which probably works well for the Red Sox, but is a thorn in the side for fantasy managers. It’ll be difficult for him to find everyday playing time unless injuries strike Boston’s outfield, which would lead to Ceddanne Rafaela moving from shortstop to center field.
  • BOS Shortstop #70
David Hamilton is not in the lineup for Tuesday’s game against the Blue Jays.
Hamilton has been playing through a lingering side issue of late and will take a seat on Tuesday night at Fenway Park with veteran righty Kevin Gausman on the mound for Toronto. The 26-year-old speedster figures to make an appearance off the bench at some point in the contest. It’ll be Enmanuel Valdez taking a turn at the keystone to open the game.
  • BOS Third Baseman #47
Enmanuel Valdez is not in the lineup for the Red Sox on Monday against the Blue Jays.
Valdez will be sitting even though the Blue Jays are starting Chris Bassitt. Valdez has started nearly every game against righties this month, but with Wilyer Abreu back, Ceddanne Rafaela is shifting back to shortstop with David Hamilton moving to second base. This could mean Valdez is nothing more than a left-handed hitter off the bench and an occasional spot starter.
  • BOS Third Baseman #47
Enmanuel Valdez doubled and drove in the Red Sox’ lone run in Friday night’s loss to the Yankees.
The 25-year-old infielder smacked an RBI double off of the center field wall off of Luis Gil in the fourth inning, pulling the Red Sox to within two runs at 3-1. That would be as close as they would get. He also drew a walk in the contest, finishing the night 1-for-2. On the season, Valdez is hitting just .203/.246/.407 with five homers and 23 RBI.
