    Elly De La Cruz went 2-for-4 with an RBI, two runs scored and a stolen base on Thursday as the Reds dispatched of the visiting Marlins.
    The 23-year-old All-Star shortstop singled off of Cal Quantrill with two outs in the opening inning, swiped second base and raced around to score the game’s first run on an RBI single off the bat of Spencer Steer. He then tacked on an RBI single of his own in the sixth that made it a 4-0 ballgame and scored on a two-run single by Hays. He has had a terrific first half at the dish, slashing .280/.351/.488 with 18 homers, 63 RBI, 71 runs scored and 23 stolen bases (in 29 attempts).

    James Wood was named to his first National League All-Star squad on Sunday as a reserve.
    The 22-year-old budding superstar is certainly deserving of the honor, slashing .288/.391/.549 with 23 homers, 67 RBI and 12 swipes on the year. He’ll be joined on the National League bench by Pete Alonso, Corbin Carroll, Elly De La Cruz, Brendan Donovan, Hunter Goodman, Matt Olson, Kyle Schwarber, Kyle Stowers, Eugenio Suarez and Fernando Tatis Jr.

    De La Cruz’ stolen base was No. 22 on the season. While that’s well behind his stolen base pace last year when he stole 67 bases, De La Cruz has improved as a hitter this season. The 23-year-old superstar shortstop is hitting .279 with an .863 OPS in 82 games this year compared to .255 with an .809 OPS last year.

    The Reds were stifled by Max Fried in this one. De La Cruz accounted for two of their three hits and scored their only run on a throwing error by Jazz Chisholm. He’s turned a serious corner over the last month with a .336/.409/.699 slash line in his last 30 games.

    Elly De La Cruz went 3-for-4 with a solo homer and three RBI on Monday, propelling the Reds to a 6-1 victory over the Yankees.
    De La Cruz came up a double shy of hitting for the cycle on Monday night as he capped off an impressive three-hit effort with an opposite-field solo shot — his 18th round-tripper of the season — against Yankees lefty reliever Tim Hill in the eighth inning. He put Cincinnati on the scoreboard with a run-scoring triple to center field in the fourth inning before picking up an additional RBI in the ensuing frame with a bases-loaded single to shallow right field. The 23-year-old fantasy superstar is in the midst of one of the best stretches of his career, hitting .309 (21-for-68) with six homers, 12 RBI and four steals in 20 games since June 1.

    Elly De La Cruz went 2-for-5 with a two-run homer against the Cardinals on Saturday.
    De La Cruz tripled in the third inning and was thrown out at home trying to reach home on a throwing error. He then came up in a big spot in the seventh, slugging a game-tying two-run homer off Steven Matz. The 23-year-old shortstop is hitting .265/.344/.493 with 17 homers, 59 runs scored, 52 RBI, and 21 steals across 331 plate appearances.

    De La Cruz’s home run was his 16th of the year. After the Reds came back to take the lead late in the game, the 23-year-old shortstop extended the lead to 8-4 with a two-run shot off Brennan Hanifee in the top of the ninth inning. De La Cruz is on a hot streak with home runs in each of his last four games. He’s hitting .273 with an .850 OPS and 50 RBI this season.

    The superstar shortstop victimized Tigers’ right-hander Keider Montero for a 374-foot (109.8 mph EV) solo shot in the fifth inning that pulled the Reds to within a run at 3-2. That would be as close as they would get. He also singled in the seventh inning and drove in a run with an RBI double in the ninth inning. With his three-hit attack, the 23-year-old is now slashing .267/.347/.477 with 14 homers, 46 RBI and 20 stolen bases on the season.

    De La Cruz made it back for Saturday’s regularly scheduled contest against the Diamondbacks after missing Friday’s eventual suspended series opener due to issues with his flight back from the Dominican Republic. The 23-year-old fantasy superstar missed a handful of games earlier this week following the passing of his sister. He’s back at shortstop and batting third on Sunday afternoon ahead of a red-hot Christian Encarnacion-Strand, who has homered in back-to-back games since returning from the injured list.
