Padres optioned INF/OF Eguy Rosario to Triple-A El Paso.
The Padres activated Luis Campusano from the 10-day IL on Friday, but they’re going to hang on to three catchers for the time being, which squeezed Rosario off of the big-league roster. He’ll surely get another opportunity with the Padres before the summer is through.

Padres recalled INF Eguy Rosario from Triple-A El Paso.
Rosario was sent down in early May in spite of an .836 OPS in 52 plate appearances, and he’d since come in at 1.022 in Triple-A. The problem is that he’s really just limited to second and third defensively, and the Padres don’t have much use him at those spots. He’ll probably see some time against lefties between DH and second base.

Padres optioned INF Eguy Rosario to Triple-A El Paso.
Rosario hasn’t seen much playing time, and the infielder will head to Triple-A to likely see more consistent at-bats. Donovan Solano is up to take Rosario’s place on the roster.

Eguy Rosario hit a solo homer in a loss Saturday to the Phillies.
Rosario apparently doesn’t have a thing for history, as his solo homer ended a 32 2/3 inning scoreless streak for Ranger Suárez. Rosario has gone deep three times with six RBI in limited playing time, and he’s slugging a rather healthy .605. The 24-year-old is definitely a name to keep a close eye on over the coming weeks.

Eguy Rosario doubled and drove in a pair of runs on Sunday afternoon, but it wasn’t enough to lead the Padres past the Angels in their Cactus League affair.
The 24-year-old infielder delivered a two-run double off of Victor Mederos in the sixth inning that extended the Padres’ lead to 4-0. That would wind up being the extent of the team’s offense in the ballgame and by the home half of the inning the lead had evaporated. Rosario finished the afternoon 1-for-3 and is now hitting .250 (7-for-28) with three RBI and a pair of stolen bases on the spring.

Padres SS prospect Eguy Rosario had two hits in LIDOM action on Tuesday.
The 5'9" and 150 pound Rosario is now hitting .385/.500/.538. in early LIDOM action. Rosario missed much of 2023 due to a broken ankle but spent time between Triple-A and the Majors slashing .265/.348/.422 with five home runs and four stolen bases in 187 Triple-A plate appearances before hitting two home runs in 37 MLB plate appearances. If he’s able to put together a healthy 2024 season, he could push his way into a regular role in San Diego.

Manny Machado is not in the Padres’ starting lineup for Sunday’s contest against the White Sox.
With the Padres officially out of the playoff picture, the Padres decided to give their star third baseman the final game of the season off. Machado is expected to undergo off-season surgery to address a nagging elbow injury but should be ready for DH duties by the start of next season. Eguy Rosario will man the hot corner, with Juan Soto filling in as the Padres designated hitter on Sunday.

Manny Machado (elbow) is not in the Padres’ starting lineup for Tuesday night’s showdown against the Rockies.
The Padres have continued to monitor Machado’s workload as he continues to play through an elbow injury that is expected to require surgery at season’s end. Eguy Rosario will cover the hot corner in his place on Tuesday night and will bat ninth against Ryan Feltner and the Rockies.

Manny Machado is not in the Padres’ lineup for Wednesday’s game against the Dodgers.
Machado continues to play through a lingering right elbow issue, which may ultimately require offseason surgery. The 31-year-old third baseman takes a seat on Wednesday evening with Eguy Rosario getting the nod at the hot corner in his absence.

Manny Machado is not in the Padres’ starting lineup for Sunday’s finale against the Astros.
Sunday marks the first game since June that Machado has missed. Machado has been bothered by elbow soreness this season, which could be the reason for him sitting out on Sunday. Eguy Rosario will take his place at the hot corner while batting ninth.
