Michael Grove and Edgardo Henriquez are on the Dodgers’ roster for the NLDS against the Padres.
The Dodgers are carrying 13 pitches, so Grove gets a spot despite finishing the year in the minors. Henriquez, 22, also makes the team after only three career major league relief appearances. Both were picked over Joe Kelly, who allowed one run in four innings after coming off the IL last month. With just 13 hitters on the roster, Kevin Kiermaier loses out.
  • Dodgers selected the contract of RHP Edgardo Henriquez from Triple-A Oklahoma City.
Now it’s official. The Dodgers want to see what the 22-year-old flamethrower has in the gas tank before the playoffs. Ben Casparius was optioned to make space on the active roster and Gavin Stone was transferred to the 60-day IL to make space on the 40-man roster.
  • The Dodgers will call up top pitching prospect Edgardo Henriquez, according to Fabian Ardaya of the Athletic.
Henriquez started the year in A-ball, but can touch 104 mph with his fastball. That’s the kind of heat that’ll play in any bullpen so it’s understandable that the Dodgers want to take a look at him before the playoffs. Henriquez has a 2.72 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 88 strikeouts in 53 innings across four levels of the minor leagues this season.
