    Adrian’s older brother, Edgar signed a minor league pact with the Cubs this offseason and was expected to provide organizational depth. He is expected to try and play in Japan. Gonzalez spent 2010 with Japan’s Yomiuri Giants.

    Edgar Gonzalez departed Saturday night’s game on a medical cart after being nailed in the head with a pitch.
    Gonzalez looked dazed as trainers transported him off the field. We’ll go ahead and guess he suffered a fairly severe concussion. A trip to the disabled list is highly probable.

    Padres placed infielder Edgar Gonzalez on the 15-day day disabled list, retroactive to July 19, with a concussion.
    Gonzalez was nailed in the head with a pitch Saturday night and required a cart to pull him off the field. He spent a night in the hospital and could need more than the allotted two weeks to get right mentally.

    Edgar Gonzalez left Tuesday’s game in the seventh inning with a partial dislocation of his left shoulder.
    Gonzalez’s season is almost surely over. The utilityman was hitting .209/.270//.358 in 148 at-bats going into Tuesday’s game.

    Gonzalez has been out since July 19 with post-concussion symptoms, including a long bout with vertigo. He was batting .190 with four homers and 12 runs batted in before the sudden injury.
