    Orioles released RHP Dylan Coleman.
Coleman arrived in Baltimore back in mid-February on a minor league contract and didn’t end up making it back to the majors. The 28-year-old righty made one relief appearance last year for the Astros. He was cut loose by the Orioles after compiling a lackluster 4.91 ERA across 11 appearances between Double-A Chesapeake and Triple-A Norfolk.
  • BAL Relief Pitcher #53
Orioles optioned LHP Luis Gonzalez and RHP Kade Strowd to Triple-A Norfolk and reassigned C David Banuelos, IF Terrin Vavra, OF Jordyn Adams, OF Franklin Barrett, RHP Dylan Coleman, RHP Raul Alcantara, and RHP Rodolfo Martinez to minor league camp.
Strowd and Gonzalez were both added to the 40-man roster to prevent them from being selected in the Rule 5 draft, but neither was likely to make Baltimore’s roster out of the Grapefruit League. Several of the players reassigned were signed as non-roster invites, and they simply add organizational depth at the higher levels.

Orioles signed RHP Dylan Coleman to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
Coleman was released by the Astros after making just one appearance with the club. Prior to that, he had a modicum of success as a member of the Royals. He’ll have an outside shot of winning a spot in the back of the Baltimore bullpen.

    Astros released RHP Dylan Coleman.
Coleman passed through waivers unclaimed after being designated for assignment earlier this week in a move to free up a 40-man roster spot for top prospect Zach Dezenzo. He’ll presumably be able to latch on somewhere else as organizational relief depth.
  • HOU Relief Pitcher #54
Astros designated RHP Dylan Coleman for assignment.
Coleman made one relief appearance earlier this season and winds up losing his spot on Houston’s 40-man roster to make room for infield prospect Zach Dezenzo.
  • HOU Relief Pitcher #54
Astros optioned RHP Dylan Coleman to Triple-A Sugar Land.
Coleman heads back to the minors with J.P. France set to return from paternity leave ahead of Friday’s series opener against the Rangers. The 27-year-old righty tossed a scoreless frame in his lone relief appearance for the Astros during his brief stint in the majors.

Astros recalled RHP Dylan Coleman from Triple-A Sugar Land.
Coleman has been summoned ahead of Tuesday’s contest against the Blue Jays to provide Houston’s well-rested bullpen with some extra long relief depth while starter J.P. France is away on paternity leave. The 27-year-old righty has made 96 appearances in the big leagues dating back to 2021.

Astros optioned RHP Dylan Coleman to Triple-A Sugar Land.
Coleman was acquired from the Royals in a small trade back in December and won’t make Houston’s season-opening roster. The 27-year-old righty has made 96 appearances in the big leagues since 2021.

Astros acquired RHP Dylan Coleman from the Royals for RHP Carlos Mateo.
The Astros will try to get Coleman turned around after he lost two mph off his fastball and posted an 8.84 ERA in 18 1/3 innings for the Royals last season. The 27-year-old was far better in 2022, posting a 2.78 ERA in 68 innings then. Still, he’s always been very wild, having walked 14% of the batters he’s faced as a major leaguer. He has options remaining, so he could open 2024 in Triple-A. Mateo, 19, pitched 8 2/3 innings and allowed five runs in Rookie ball last season. Perhaps he’ll turn into something, but the Royals made this deal mostly to clear a spot on the 40-man.

The Astros are acquiring Dylan Coleman from the Royals, according to MLB.com’s Anne Rogers.
Coleman has always been awfully wild, but he also lost some stuff last year, too, which is why he spent the bulk of the season in the minors. He was very good for the Royals in 2022, finishing with a 2.78 ERA and a 71/37 K/BB ratio in 68 innings. The Astros might have some luck getting him back to contributing out of the pen.
