Peterson

Peterson hasn’t appeared in the majors since getting into 19 contests between the Braves and Tigers from 2018 to 2019. The 29-year-old journeyman outfielder is merely organizational depth at this point after spending the last three seasons at the Triple-A level.

Peterson was picked up from the Brewers for cash considerations last April and went on to hit .244/.318/.379 with nine homers, 47 RBI and six stolen bases in 437 plate appearances at Triple-A Lehigh Valley. He’ll continue to serve as quality outfield depth for the Phillies.

Peterson will bolster the Phillies’ outfield depth at Triple-A Lehigh Valley. The 27-year-old outfielder last appeared in the majors with the Tigers back in 2019. He was hitting .143/.455/.286 with zero homers in just three games at Triple-A Nashville this season.

The deal presumably includes an invitation to the major league side of spring training. Peterson, a former second-round pick of the Padres, has posted a weak .217/.265/.304 batting line in 49 career plate appearances at baseball’s highest level, but he lit it up in the independent Constellation Energy League this past summer and has continued that trend in the Mexican Pacific Winter League. He turned 26 years old in September.

Peterson got let go by the Angels in June and failed to latch on with another MLB team, but he went on to post impressive numbers in independent ball and is the current home run leader in the Mexican Pacific Winter League. The 26-year-old was a second-round pick of the Padres in the 2013 MLB Draft.

Peterson was one of 39 players cut loose by the Angels over the last week. The 25-year-old former second-round pick is a .217/.265/.304 career hitter in 49 plate appearances at the MLB level.

Peterson, 25, spent most of the 2019 season at Triple-A Toledo. He did appear in 17 games with the Tigers at the big league level, slashing a putrid .227/.277/.318 with no homers, six RBI and a 14/2 K/BB ratio in 47 plate appearances. He’s nothing more than minor league depth for the Halos and can be ignored for fantasy purposes.

Peterson batted just .227/.277/.318 in 47 plate appearances this season with the Detroit. He spent the majority of the year at Toledo, where he hit .286/.317/.439 with 11 home runs in 319 plate appearances.

The 25-year-old Peterson hit .227 (10-for-44) with four doubles over 17 games with the Tigers this season and batted .286/.317/.439 with 11 homers over 79 games in Triple-A. This is a paper move for the Tigers now that the 2019 season has come to a close.

No corresponding move has been announced, but it’s expected that Jordy Mercer will return from the injured list on Tuesday. Peterson struggled in his time with the big league club, hitting just .227/.277/.318 with no homers, six RBI and a 14/2 K/BB ratio in 47 plate appearances.
