Naylor

He was given the boot to clear a spot on the 40-man roster. Naylor, 25, underwent Tommy John surgery in June and will likely be sidelined until the middle of the 2012 season.

Naylor was designated for assignment earlier this month. He’s still recovering from Tommy John surgery.

Naylor, a 21-year-old from Australia, hadn’t progressed as quickly as hoped since being signed in 2004, but he’s rapidly making up for lost time. He’s currently sporting a 0.62 ERA and a 32/3 K/BB ratio in 29 innings.

Naylor, a 22-year-old righty, was 5-3 with a 2.99 ERA, 69 H and 97/21 K/BB in 87 1/3 innings for low Single-A Lakewood. He’s not a big upside guy, but he’s a potential fourth or fifth starter for the Philies.

It’s hard to tell what Naylor has left to prove in the Sally League. He’s 5-2 with a 2.61 ERA, 60 H and 91/20 K/BB in 88 2/3 innings. The 22-year-old doesn’t lack for polish, and it’s not like the FSL would be a particularly difficult environment for him.

Naylor, a 21-year-old from Australia, is 2-2 with a 2.25 ERA, 32 H and 50/12 in 44 IP this season. He doesn’t overwhelm with his fastball, but with quality command and a plus curveball, he could fit an as a fourth or fifth starter someday.

Naylor, 25, did not throw a pitch in a live game this season and won’t be available for at least another year. The Australian right-hander posted a 4.63 ERA and 1.30 WHIP over 167 innings in 2010 at Double-A Reading.
