Blue Jays non-tendered RHP Dillon Tate.
The 30-year-old hurler compiled a 4.66 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and a 27/12 K/BB ratio over 36 2/3 innings between the Orioles and Blue Jays in 2024. The Blue Jays liked what they saw from Tate late in the season, but the $1.5 million - 1.8 million that he was expected to earn via arbitration was just too steep of a price tag for them to pay. He shouldn’t have any difficulty finding work on the open market.

Blue Jays recalled RHP Dillon Tate from Triple-A Buffalo.
Tate, who was claimed off waivers from the Orioles on Sept. 1, will make his Jays debut after allowing one run in five innings for Buffalo. It’d probably take $1.5 million-$1.8 million to keep him in arbitration, so he’ll have to make a really strong first impression here in order to stick on the Jays roster this winter.

Blue Jays claimed RHP Dillon Tate off waivers from the Orioles.
Tate was designated for assignment Wednesday, and he finds a new home less than a week later. The 30-year-old could have a chance to help the Blue Jays bullpen before the end of 2024, and if he sticks in the organization he’ll compete for a spot on the pitching staff this spring.

Orioles designated RHP Dillon Tate for assignment.
The Orioles claimed Forrest Wall off of waivers from the Marlins on Wednesday and needed to free up a spot on their 40-man roster to do so, which unfortunately left Tate on the outside looking in. The 30-year-old hurler has had enough success at the big-league level that it wouldn’t be surprising to see another team take a shot at him on waivers.

Orioles optioned RHP Dillon Tate to Triple-A Norfolk.
Tate was only up for a day and didn’t pitch. He has a 4.59 ERA in 33 1/3 innings for Baltimore on the season.

Orioles recalled RHP Dillon Tate from Triple-A Norfolk.
Tate rejoins Baltimore’s relief mix ahead of Tuesday’s contest against the Mets with lefty Keegan Akin away from the club on paternity leave. The 30-year-old righty has struggled to a pedestrian 4.59 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 23/9 K/BB ratio across 33 1/3 innings (29 appearances) this season in the big leagues.
  • BAL Relief Pitcher #20
Orioles recalled RHP Burch Smith from Triple-A Norfolk.
The Orioles signed Smith to a minor league contract on June 28th, and he pitched just two scoreless innings in Triple-A, striking out two before the Orioles decided to bring him up. The 34-year-old appeared in 25 games out of the Marlins’ bullpen earlier this season, posting a 4.25 ERA, 1.62 WHIP, and a 23/9 K/BB ratio over 29 2/3 innings. Dillon Tate was sent down to make room.

Orioles optioned RHP Dillon Tate to Triple-A Norfolk.
Tate will be sent down to make room for Burch Smith. Tate has struggled a bit in his first season back from injury, pitching to a 4.59 ERA in 33 1/3 innings for the Orioles. The team will hope he can recapture some of his 2022 form back in the minors.

Craig Kimbrel allowed one run on two hits on Wednesday. He struck out one, blew the save, but wound up grabbing the win.
Kimbrel let the Yankees tie the game after a lead-off double by Anthony Volpe and single by Giancarlo Stanton. This was his fourth blown save while still sporting a 2.63 ERA. Dillon Tate closed this one out for Baltimore in the 10th inning.

Orioles recalled RHP Dillon Tate from Triple-A Norfolk.
With Dean Kremer (triceps) heading to the injured list on Friday, Tate will get another opportunity to work out of the O’s bullpen. The 30-year-old hurler has been terrific in 11 appearances with the Orioles this season, compiling a 2.84 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and a 6/6 K/BB ratio over 12 2/3 innings of work.
