Reds signed RHP Deivi Garcia to a minor league contract.
The 26-year-old hurler was cut loose by the Brewers last week after posting a 5.45 ERA, 1.73 WHIP and 27/17 K/BB ratio over 33 innings in 10 appearances (six starts) at Triple-A Nashville. He’ll add rotation depth in the upper minor leagues for the Reds.

    Brewers released RHP Deivi García.
Garcia arrived in the big leagues a half-decade ago for the Yankees as one of the most promising young pitching prospects in baseball. A combination of injuries and persistent command issues derailed his once-promising career, which has included stints with three different organizations since 2023. At 26 years old there’s a club out there willing to roll the dice on him as a reclamation project, but there’s not a ton of reason for optimism after posting a 5.45 ERA across 33 innings (10 appearances, six starts) this season at the Triple-A level.

Brewers optioned OF Brewer Hicklen to Triple-A Nashville and reassigned RHP Deivi Garcia, RHP Jacob Misiorowski, INF Raynel Delgado, RHP Vinny Nittoli, C Darien Miller and RHP Easton McGee to minor league camp.
Hicklen gets the option rather than being reassigned because he’s on the 40-man roster. Despite having a perfect name for the roster, Brewer won’t be a Brewer to open the campaign. Misiorowski is the top pitching prospect in the system and likely will help the Brew Crew before the end of 2025.

ESPN Jeff Passan reported that the Brewers signed RHP Deivi García to a minor league contract.
García was a one-time top prospect of the Yankees whose performance fell off drastically as he dealt with mechanical inconsistencies. He was designated for assignment in August of 2023 after struggling in Triple-A for the Yankees and was claimed off waivers by the White Sox, who then designated him for assignment after he posted a 7.07 ERA in 14 bullpen innings this season. The Brewers did just have tremendous success turning around the career of Tobias Myers, who was also designated for assignment by multiple teams, so perhaps they’ll have similar success with García, who is still just 25 years old.

White Sox sent RHP Deivi García outright to Triple-A Charlotte.
García was universally-regarded as one of the top pitching prospects in baseball just a few years ago when he was with the Yankees, but it’s never really come together for him at the highest level. The 24-year-old righty will presumably stick around with Chicago as extra organizational pitching depth after passing through waivers unclaimed.

White Sox designated RHP Deivi Garcia for assignment.
Garcia is booted off the active and 40-man roster to make room for Brad Keller. In 14 appearances with the White Sox, Garcia registered a 7.07 ERA with a 15/11 K/BB over 14 innings of work. The 24-year-old may see interest on the waiver wire as a former top prospect.

Deivi García tossed two scoreless innings to record the save in the second game of Wednesday’s doubleheader against the Royals.
García was summoned in the eighth inning with a one-run lead. He worked around a hit and a walk, closing out the game for his first save of the season and second of his career. Michael Kopech was unavailable after pitching in the first game of Wednesday’s doubleheader.

Deivi García notched three strikeouts over two scoreless innings on Wednesday in a Cactus League start against the Padres.
García may have washed out in New York, but the former top prospect is getting a new lease on life in Chicago. The 24-year-old is presumably fighting for a spot this spring in the White Sox’ Opening Day rotation, but there doesn’t appear to be a clear path at the moment. He could make sense as a versatile multi-inning swingman, but that would diminish his immediate fantasy appeal.

White Sox recalled RHP Deivi García from Triple-A Charlotte.
The 24-year-old hurler was claimed off of waives from the Yankees in early August. Since joining the organization, he has posted a 2.00 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and a 17/6 K/BB ratio over nine innings in seven appearances out of the bullpen at Triple-A Charlotte. He’ll add another weapon for White Sox’ skipper Pedro Grifol to deploy in the middle innings.

White Sox transferred RHP Liam Hendriks to the 60-day injured list.
This is a procedural move to free up room on the 40-man roster for newly acquired Deivi García, who the White Sox claimed off of waivers on Thursday. Hendriks had Tommy John surgery last Wednesday and will likely miss all of the 2024 season. It has been an unfairly tough year on the White Sox closer, who battled to get back from Stage 4 non-Hodgkin lymphoma before injuring his elbow.
