Orioles acquired OF Daz Cameron from the Athletics for cash considerations.
The former first-round pick played in 66 games for the Athletics in 2024 after three seasons with the Tigers; however, he hit just .200/.258/.329 with five home runs, five steals, and a 27.4 percent strikeout rate. He figures to serve as organizational dept in the outfield.

Seth Brown is not in the starting lineup for the A’s on Thursday.
The veteran will take a seat against a left-hander starter with Daz Cameron starting in left field and batting eighth. Brown has hit .296 with seven home runs, 13 runs scored, and 25 RBI in 41 games since the All-Star break; however, the A’s will face four more lefties in their next six games, which could impact his playing time going forward.
  • OAK Right Fielder #4
Lawrence Butler is not in the A’s starting lineup on Thursday for the finale against the Mets.
Daz Cameron will start in his place and play right field. This could be a routine rest day for the 24-year-old and could also be because the Mets are throwing left-hander Jose Quintana, but Lawrence has also been running a bit cold of late. He’s gone just 7-for-40 (.175) in 11 games in August with one home run and 13 strikeouts. He doesn’t figure to be in any jeopardy of losing playing time considering how well he has hit since being recalled from Triple-A, but the A’s could be trying to give him a bit of a reset.
  • OAK Right Fielder #33
JJ Bleday is not in the Athletics’ starting lineup for Friday night’s showdown against the Phillies.
As is often the case, Bleday gets a night off with an opposing left-hander on the mound — in this case it’s Ranger Suarez. Daz Cameron will start in his place in center field and bat leadoff for the A’s on Friday evening in Philadelphia.
  • OAK Left Fielder #25
Brent Rooker is not in the Athletics’ lineup on Wednesday against the Padres.
Rooker is a notoriously streaky hitter, and things have not been going well for him over the last three weeks. The slugger is hitting .212/.316/.394 over his last 18 games with two home runs, eight RBI, and a 39.5 percent strikeout rate. We’ve seen Rooker go through these prolonged slumps in the past due to his low contact rate, so it might be safe to treat him as a streamer in shallower formats and see if you can roster a hitter trending in the right direction. Daz Cameron will start in center field and take Rooker’s place in the lineup on Wednesday.
  • OAK First Baseman #15
Seth Brown is out of the A’s lineup against a right-hander for a second straight game Monday.
This seems overdue, what with Brown hitting .190/.250/.307 for the season. Daz Cameron rates as the main beneficiary for now, but the A’s could give Lawrence Butler another opportunity soon.
  • OAK Third Baseman #22
Miguel Andujar is not in the lineup for Saturday’s game against the Blue Jays.
Andujar takes a seat for the first time since May 25 after going 1-for-20 over his last five games since a four-hit explosion back on June 1. It’ll be Daz Cameron drawing a start in left field on Saturday afternoon in his place.
  • OAK Center Fielder #40
Athletics recalled OF Daz Cameron from Triple-A Las Vegas.
The 27-year-old was producing solid numbers in the minors, slashing .307/.424/.577 with six home runs, 27 RBI, and eight steals in 41 games. He was swinging and missing less and sporting a more patient approach at the plate but was also playing games in many hitter-friendly ballparks. Considering he took Esteury Ruiz’s (wrist) place on the active roster and Ruiz was only playing once or twice a week, it’s unlikely that Cameron will be up as more than a bench bat.
  • OAK Center Fielder #1
Athletics placed OF Esteury Ruiz on the 10-day injured list with a strained left wrist.
There was a lot of celebrating in fantasy baseball circles when Ruiz performed well at Triple-A Las Vegas and hit two home runs in his first games after being recalled in April. However, the 25-year-old is hitting just .200/.270/.382 in 29 games this season with two home runs, five steals, and a 31 percent strikeout rate. He has been battling wrist issues throughout the season but also figures to profile as more of a fourth outfielder due to his low batting average and poor outfield defense. Daz Cameron was called up to take his place on the active roster.
  • OAK Catcher #37
Athletics optioned C Tyler Soderstrom to Triple-A Las Vegas; reassigned INFs Armando Alvarez and Max Muncy and OFs Daz Cameron and Max Schuemann to minor league camp.
Oakland’s decision to jettison Soderstrom means that Carlos Pérez will open the season as the primary backup to starter Shea Langeliers. The 22-year-old top prospect struggled mightily in his first taste of the majors last year and didn’t produce at all this spring in Cactus League action. There’s a chance he gets another look at some point in the near future, but he hasn’t shown enough in the big leagues to gain any trust with fantasy managers.
