Martinez

Martinez has appeared in just two games for the Astros this season, registering a 5.06 ERA over 5 1/3 innings. The 26-year-old will serve as bullpen depth.

Martinez was sent down to make room for Tuesday’s starter Paul Clemens. The 26-year-old allowed four runs (three earned) in 5 1/3 innings over his first two appearances in the majors.

The 29-year-old hurler split his 2016 season between Triple-A Rochester (Twins) and Double-A Erie (Tigers) where he compiled a 5.96 ERA, 1.63 WHIP and 75/23 K/BB ratio across 93 2/3 innings. He’ll function as organizational depth for the Tigers.

Martinez has spent all of this season at Triple-A, putting up a 4.92 ERA with 56 strikeouts over 75 innings. He’ll be used in middle relief.

The 26-year-old appeared in three games with the Astros, allowing four run over his seven innings of work (5.14 ERA). He should get another chance with the big league club at some point in the second half of the season.

Martinez made four appearances with the Astros last season and posted a 2.57 ERA and 96/31 K/BB ratio in 140 1/3 innings over 21 starts and eight relief appearances between Double-A Corpus Christi and Triple-A Oklahoma City. He’ll likely contribute with the big club at some point this year.

The 28-year-old hurler spent the 2015 campaign in the Rangers organization, compiling a 3.21 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 49/26 K/BB ratio over 67 1/3 innings between Double-A Frisco and Triple-A Round Rock. He’ll add organizational bullpen depth for the Twins.

Martinez had a 5.14 ERA in seven innings this past season out of the Astros’ bullpen. He spent the large majority of the year at Triple-A Oklahoma City, where his numbers weren’t any better. The right-hander will struggle to make the Rangers’ roster.

More housecleaning on Houston’s 40-man roster. Martinez appeared in three games with the Astros earlier this season and posted a 5.64 ERA over 13 starts and nine relief appearances in Triple-A.

He cleared waivers after being designated for assignment last week. Martinez allowed four runs over seven relief innings for the Astros this season.
