Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports that the Dodgers have finalized their extension for manager Dave Roberts.
Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports that it’s a four-year, $32.4 million deal that will keep Roberts in Los Angeles through the 2029 season. That’s the highest average annual value (AAV) of any manager in baseball; breaking the previous record of set by Craig Counsell’s $8 million per-year contract with the Cubs. It comes after Roberts helped guide the Dodgers to a World Series championship last year; and he also took home the title in 2020. There’s no reason to think that Roberts and the Dodgers won’t continue their success going forward given how much they’ve invested in their roster from a financial standpoint.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts told reporters on Friday that he’s close to finalizing a multi-year contract extension.
Roberts explained, “We’re at the one-yard line ... Things are looking good. I’m optimistic. This is where I want to be, so I’m excited that things are getting done.” Fresh off of winning a World Series championship in 2024 and getting to manage perhaps the most talented team in all of baseball, Roberts looks poised for continued long-term success in his role with the Dodgers.

The Dodgers announced that former Rangers’ manager Chris Woodward will serve as their first base coach for the 2025 season.
Woodward previously functioned as the team’s third base coach from 2016-2018 and he has been in the organization for the past couple of years as a senior advisor on the player development side. There was a vacancy at the position after Clayton McCullough left to become the new manager of the Miami Marlins.

The Dodgers will have a bullpen game against the Padres in Game 4 of the NLDS.
It’s Dylan Cease against TBD. The Dodgers will have all hands on deck in a must win Game 4 in San Diego. Most of the Dodgers’ important relievers haven’t pitched much since the bullpen threw six scoreless innings in Game 1. If Los Angeles is going to force a Game 5, they might need to repeat that performance.

Marlins manager Skip Schumaker was named as the National League Manager of the Year on Tuesday.
The first-time skipper led the Marlins to an 84-78 record and a Wild Card berth in his first season at the helm of a big league club. Schumaker garnered eight first place, eight second place and eight third place votes in a closely contested race. Former Brewers skipper and current Cubs manager Craig Counsell finished as the runner-up, while Braves manager Brian Snitker, Diamondbacks skipper Torey Lovullo and Dodgers manager Dave Roberts rounded out the top five.

Dodgers’ president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman told reporters on Tuesday that he anticipates the entire coaching staff returning for the 2024 season.
That obviously includes manager Dave Roberts who remains under contract with the Dodgers through the 2025 season. In eight seasons at the helm, Roberts has registered a sublime 753-442 record (.630) while capturing three National League Pennants as well as the World Series Championship in 2020.

The Dodgers named Danny Lehmann their new bench coach, with Bob Geren stepping into a major league field coordinator role.
Lehmann, 37, had been the team’s game planning/communications coach. He spent seven years as a minor league catcher in the Twins system before becoming a coach. Geren came on board with Dave Roberts prior to the 2016 season and had served as bench coach ever since.

The Dodgers are bringing in former Rangers manager Chris Woodward as a special assistant in the front office.
This will be a transition for Woodward, who worked as a coach and later a manager following his retirement from MLB. He served as the Dodgers’ third base coach for three years before getting the Rangers gig.

Dodgers president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman confirmed Tuesday that Dave Roberts will return for the 2023 season.
Not that there should have been any doubt, but Freidman wanted to quell and rumblings that the Dodgers would be looking to move on from Roberts after a brilliant season in which they won 111 games but fell to the Padres in the NLDS. Friedman also noted that he didn’t anticipate there being any changes in the coaching staff for next season.
