Pirates sent RHP’s Daulton Jefferies, Isaac Mattson and Ben Heller outright to Triple-A Indianapolis.
Jefferies (elbow) and Heller (shoulder) are coming off injuries, while Mattson was a late-season call-up for the Pirates as emergency relief depth. The trio have the ability to elect free agency, but have been removed from Pittsburgh’s 40-man roster heading into the offseason.

Pirates transferred RHP Daulton Jefferies to the 60-day injured list.
Jefferies is likely done for the year after hitting the injured list earlier this month with right elbow inflammation. The procedural move clears a spot on Pittsburgh’s 40-man roster.
  • PIT Starting Pitcher #59
Pirates placed RHP Daulton Jefferies on the 15-day injured list with right elbow inflammation.
It’s never what you want to hear for a pitcher coming off a recent Tommy John surgery. There should be some clarity on his status once he undergoes further testing and evaluation. The 28-year-old righty has made six appearnaces (one start) in the big leagues this season between the Pirates and Giants.
  • PIT Starting Pitcher #56
Pirates recalled RHP Daulton Jeffries from Triple-A Indianapolis.
Jefferies had poor results in two starts for the Giants this season and was traded to the Pirates back on May 10. In five starts for the Pirates in Triple-A, he has a 6.10 ERA and 1.74 WHIP. He doesn’t figure to be used as a traditional starter for the Pirates and should remain off fantasy radars. Justin Bruihl was sent down in a corresponding move.
  • PIT Starting Pitcher #56
Pirates optioned RHP Daulton Jefferies to Triple-A Indianapolis.
Jefferies was brought up on Wednesday to serve as the 27th man for the doubleheader against the Tigers, but he didn’t appear in either game. He’ll continue to serve as pitching depth for Pittsburgh.
  • PIT Starting Pitcher #56
Daulton Jefferies will join the Pirates as the 27th man for the second game of Wednesday’s doubleheader against the Tigers.
If Jefferies gets into the game, it’ll be his Pirates debut. He’s allowed six runs over six innings in two appearances for Triple-A Indianapolis since being picked up from the Giants earlier this month.
  • PIT Starting Pitcher #56
Pirates acquired RHP Daulton Jefferies from the Giants for OF Rodolfo Nolasco.
Jefferies, 28, had been designated for assignment by the Giants after posting a brutal 17.36 ERA, 3.43 WHIP and a 4/2 K/BB ratio over 4 2/3 innings in two starts. He’ll function as excess pitching depth for the Pirates.
  • SF Starting Pitcher
Giants recalled RHP Mason Black from Triple-A Sacramento.
The move was announced yesterday but is now official. Black will make his MLB debut on Monday afternoon against the Phillies after posting an impressive 1.01 ERA, 0.90 WHIP, and a 29/8 K/BB ratio over 26 2/3 innings at Triple-A this year. He’s worth a stash in most formats even if you don’t start him today. Daulton Jefferies was designated for assignment in a corresponding move.

Giants recalled RHP Daulton Jefferies from Triple-A Sacramento.
Jefferies had just been optioned to Triple-A Sacramento on Thursday, but he’ll return with Tom Murphy (knee) landing on the injured list prior to Sunday’s contest. The 28-year-old hurler has really struggled in two outings for the Giants this season, posting a miserable 17.36 ERA, 3.43 WHIP and a 4/2 K/BB ratio over 4 2/3 innings. He’ll add length in the middle innings for the Giants.

Giants optioned RHP Daulton Jefferies to Triple-A Sacramento.
Jefferies has appeared in two games (one start) for the Giants this season and has allowed nine earned runs in his 4 2/3 innings of work. Not good. The 28-year-old missed all of last season after he underwent Tommy John surgery and will hopefully get right down at Triple-A.
