McCaughn looked solid while he was in the game. His only blemish came on a back-door sweeper he tried to sneak past Ozzie Albies and Atlanta rallied for two runs immediately after he left the game. It was a bit disappointing to see him yanked so early with just 67 pitches – his second fewest in a major league start this season. He’s scheduled to take the mound again in Toronto next week.

McCaughan gave up six hits, walked two and struck out one. Washington scored three time in the first inning on an RBI single by Dylan Crews and a two-run double by Jose Tena. McCaughan isn’t a fantasy option at the moment. He has a 7.06 ERA and 1.81 in 15 strikeouts in 29 1/3 innings on the season. The 28-year-old right-hander is set to face the Dodgers at home next week.

A double and a base hit brought a run in to score on McCaughan in the first inning. A sacrifice fly by Kyle Schwarber scored a second run in the second inning. Two more hits brought a run in to score in the fifth, and McCaughan’s day would be done with two outs in the frame, falling one out short of qualifying for the win. The 28-year-old right-hander will take a 7.40 ERA, 1.85 WHIP, and a 14/10 K/BB ratio across 24 1/3 innings into a start against the Nationals in Washington on Thursday.

McCaughan hit three of the first eight batters he faced today, but he settled down after that. The last two runs came after he was lifted with two on and none out in the fifth. He’s currently sporting a 7.90 ERA in four appearances for the Marlins, and it’s unclear whether he’ll get to start again next time through.

McCaughan gets the call and will get the nod as the starter against the Giants on Sunday. Because rosters expanded to 28 players, Miami didn’t have to send anyone down while promoting the right-hander

McCaughan pitched twice for the Marlins, allowing one run over five innings. Now he’s getting swapped out for a fresh arm.

McCaughan was claimed off waivers from the Guardians back in early July and will bolster Miami’s worn-down bullpen ahead of Tuesday’s showdown against the Reds. The 28-year-old righty has made three relief appearances this season in the big leagues.

McCaughan was designated for assignment by the Guardians last week, and he’ll now report to Triple-A Jacksonville as a member of the Miami organization. It’s doubtful he’ll be anything more than org depth for the Marlins.

McCaughan, 28, is off the 40-man roster now. Assuming the 28-year-old goes unclaimed, there’s a good chance that he reports right back to Triple-A Columbus. Another team may have interest in him as organizational depth, but nothing more.

McCaughan was up for just a couple days as extra relief depth for Cleveland before getting Eli Morgan back from the injured list.
