Darren McCaughan allowed three runs -- two earned -- with four strikeouts over 4 2/3 innings in a no-decision against the Phillies on Saturday.
A double and a base hit brought a run in to score on McCaughan in the first inning. A sacrifice fly by Kyle Schwarber scored a second run in the second inning. Two more hits brought a run in to score in the fifth, and McCaughan’s day would be done with two outs in the frame, falling one out short of qualifying for the win. The 28-year-old right-hander will take a 7.40 ERA, 1.85 WHIP, and a 14/10 K/BB ratio across 24 1/3 innings into a start against the Nationals in Washington on Thursday.
