Danny Jansen went 3-for-3 with a double and a walk against the Twins on Saturday.
Three-hit games are pretty uncommon for Jansen, particularly when they don’t come with a homer. In fact, the last time he had three non-HR hits in a game was on Sept. 10, 2022. The performance lifted his average from .195 to .207, which is a new season high for him.

Danny Jansen went 1-for-3 and drove in the Rays’ lone run in Thursday evening’s loss to the Orioles.
Jansen opened the scoring in the ballgame with an RBI single off of Charlie Morton in the third inning that plated Jose Caballero. That would be the extent of their offense in the ballgame and Jansen’s only hit on the night. The 30-year-old backstop has had a rough go at the plate this season, slashing just .196/.306/.342 with six homers and 18 RBI.

Danny Jansen went 3-for-4 with a two-run homer, a double and three runs scored Saturday against the Marlins.
It’s just Jansen’s second three-hit game of the year, but it raised his average to .200. Fortunately, even a .200-hitting Jansen is a solid contributor, what with his plus defense, ample power and strong walk rate. He’s not slugging as much as usual this year, but then, the homers have always tended to come in bunches for him.

Danny Jansen swatted his first home run of the season and drove in four runs on Friday, propelling the Rays to a 6-3 victory over the Braves.
Jansen tagged Braves’ right-hander Bryce Elder for a 358-foot (100.2 mph EV) two-run shot in the fourth inning that gave the Rays a 3-1 lead they would never relinquish. He also tacked on an RBI single in the sixth inning and an RBI double in the eighth that capped off the Rays’ scoring. Even with his 3-for-4 night though, Jansen is slashing a horrifying .133/.257/.267 on the season with just the one home run and four RBI.

The Rays are hoping Danny Jansen can play in Wednesday’s intrasquad game ahead of Opening Day on Friday.
Jansen has been out since Wednesday with a mild intercostal strain. Ben Rortvedt would start Friday if Jansen isn’t ready to go, but the team might also have to adjust and add a third catcher, presumably Logan Driscoll, to the roster.

Danny Jansen is dealing with a mild intercostal strain.
Jansen has been held out of action the last few days, but Rays manager Kevin Cash is hopeful he’ll be able to return to game action early next week. His status for Opening Day is up in the air, but it sounds like there’s a chance he’s ready in time. It would be Ben Rortvedt handling the catching duties if he’s not ready in time.

Rays signed C Danny Jansen to a one-year, $8.5 million contract.
The deal, which was agreed to last Friday, was officially announced on Thursday afternoon. Jansen will earn an $8 million salary for the 2025 season and the contract also includes a $12 million mutual option for the 2026 campaign with a $500,000 buyout. The 29-year-old backstop slashed an underwhelming .205/.309/.349 with nine homers and 24 RBI in 324 plate appearances between the Blue Jays and Red Sox in 2024. He makes for an intriguing second catcher option in deeper mixed leagues.

Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports that the Rays are closing in on a deal with free agent catcher Danny Jansen.
Jeff Passan of ESPN reports it’s an $8.5 million deal for Jansen with a mutual option for 2026. The Rays were reportedly in the mix to sign Travis d’Arnaud before he landed with the Angels, and instead will bring in Jansen to serve as their catcher for the 2025 campaign. The 29-year-old struggled with Boston after being dealt to the Red Sox from Toronto, but when healthy, he’s served as a solid option behind the plate. He’ll be a mid-range second catcher to open the year from a fantasy perspective.

Danny Jansen hit a solo homer in an extra-inning loss to the Yankees on Thursday.
Jansen provided the only run of the game for the Red Sox with a solo homer off Nestor Cortes to tie the score at 1-1 in the fifth. Jansen also drew a walk, and it’s helped push his line with the Red Sox to a still unappealing .197/.319/.295.
