    Giants released LHP Daniel Tillo.
Tillo has been cut loose after posting a calamitous 10.30 ERA, 2.05 WHIP and 17/24 K/BB ratio across 25 1/3 innings (17 appearances, four starts) this season for Triple-A Sacramento. • SF Shortstop #18

Walton, who is likely to be sidelined until May as he continues his recovery from offseason shoulder surgery, is the most prominent of the Giants’ first round of cuts from spring training. Newcomb and Ross figure to be the most likely to contribute at some point for the Giants.

  • Relief Pitcher #46

It’s merely a procedural move, since all three pitchers are on the Royals’ 40-man roster. They’ll head over to the minor-league side of camp for the rest of the spring. Tillo represents the most intriguing of the trio and is still working his way back from Tommy John elbow reconstructive surgery.

Tillo is just over a year removed from Tommy John surgery and had to be pulled off his rehab assignment at one point due to elbow soreness. He’s healthy now but needs more time to knock the rust off.

He could make some noise out of the Royals’ bullpen at some point in the second half.

Royals prospect left-hander Daniel Tillo (elbow) will begin a minor league rehab assignment Tuesday in the Arizona Complex League.
Tillo required Tommy John surgery last July 29, but he’s ready to get back into game action. Checking in at 6-foot-5 and 215 pounds, the 25-year-old was a third-round pick in 2017 and ranks as the No. 20 prospect in the organization by MLB Pipeline. He’ll be looking to make up for some lost development time.
