Tigers purchased the contract of OF Daniel Fields from Double-A Erie.
Fields, who turns 23 in January, batted .284/.356/.435 with 10 home runs, 58 RBI, 24 stolen bases in 118 games this season in Double-A. With his speed and ability to play center field, it’s no surprise that the Tigers protected him from the Rule 5 Draft.

Tigers manager Brad Ausmus indicated Wednesday that he doesn’t consider Daniel Fields as an option for left field to start the season.
Andy Dirks is expected to miss three months after back surgery, so Fields has been mentioned as a possible platoon option to go along with Rajai Davis in left field. However, it’s clear that Ausmus believes he could use more time in the minors. “I don’t wanna say he’s not a candidate, but he’s probably a notch below just because of the development,” said Ausmus. Fields was added to the 40-man roster in November after he hit .284/.356/.435 with 10 home runs, 58 RBI, 24 stolen bases in 118 games last year in Double-A.

White Sox sent OF Daniel Fields outright to Triple-A Charlotte.
He’s now off the 40-man roster. Fields, who the White Sox claimed off waivers back in February, is hitting only .216/.311/.267 at Charlotte this season.

Dodgers signed OF Daniel Fields to a minor league contract.
The White Sox claimed Fields off waivers from the Dodgers back in January, but he was given his release late last month. The 24-year-old will serve as organizational depth in his return.

The Tigers are expected to promote outfielder Daniel Fields from Triple-A Toledo on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Rajai Davis is expected to be placed on the paternity leave list. Fields, 24, is batting .271/.394/.486 with three home runs, 21 RBI, and nine stolen bases over 48 games this season in Triple-A. He’ll be making his major league debut.

Yoenis Cespedes was removed from Thursday’s game against the A’s with flu-like symptoms.
Daniel Fields replaced him in left field and in the cleanup spot. Cespedes struck out in his only at-bat. It’s not clear if he’ll be able to play Friday night in the Tigers’ series opener against the White Sox.

Tigers recalled OF Daniel Fields from Triple-A Toledo.
Fields will be with the team for a couple of days while Rajai Davis is away on paternity leave. The 24-year-old was batting .271/.394/.486 with three home runs, 21 RBI, and nine stolen bases over 48 games this season in Triple-A.

Tigers optioned OF Daniel Fields to Triple-A Toledo.
Fields doubled in one of his three at-bats during his brief time with the big club. He was no longer needed with Rajai Davis back from paternity leave.
  • LAD Outfielder #60
Tigers designated OF Daniel Fields for assignment.
The move clears a spot on the 40-man roster. Fields, 24, batted just .228 with seven home runs and a .701 OPS over 122 games in Triple-A this season.

Brewers claimed OF Daniel Fields off waivers from the Tigers; optioned him to Double-A Biloxi.
Fields was designated for assignment by Detroit earlier this week. The 24-year-old outfielder has posted underwhelming numbers this season at the Triple-A level and probably won’t have much of a future with the Brewers. He does play good defense and has a bit of speed.
