Daniel Bard, who is coming off flexor tendon surgery, intends to sign with a team in April and hopefully return to the majors not long afterwards.
The 39-year-old Bard missed all of last season after suffering a knee injury in spring training and then hurting his elbow. He had a 4.56 ERA in 49 1/3 innings for the Rockies in 2023.

The Rockies announced Friday that Daniel Bard will undergo season-ending flexor tendon surgery.
The 38-year-old hurler had been working his way back from a torn meniscus in his left knee and sustained the right elbow injury while rehabbing. No one wants to end their career on a devastating elbow injury, so expect that Bard will attempt to come back once again in 2025.

Rockies placed RHP Daniel Bard on the 15-day injured list with a left knee injury.
Bard is still working his way back from a torn meniscus in his left knee. There’s no clear timetable for his return, but he should be back at some point during the first half.

Daniel Bard is expected to open the season on the injured list because of a torn meniscus in his left knee.
A tough break for Bard, but he probably won’t be too far behind at the start of the season. It’s unlikely that the 38-year-old would have been a part of the closing mix at the beginning of the year; Tyler Kinley and Justin Lawrence figure to battle for or share those chores at the beginning of the year.

Rockies placed RHP Daniel Bard on the 15-day injured list with a right flexor strain.
It’s not what you want to hear. Bard has one year left under contract with the Rockies and is likely going to return for his age 39 season next spring after posting a serviceable 4.56 ERA, 1.70 WHIP and 47/49 K/BB ratio across 49 1/3 innings (50 appearances). He’s unlikely to pitch in high-leverage spots ever again, but should be in Colorado’s bullpen next spring.

Rockies activated RHP Daniel Bard from the 15-day injured list.
The 38-year-old hurler has been sidelined since early September due to right forearm fatigue. Overall, 2023 has been a rough season for him, as he’s struggled to a 4.70 ERA, 1.72 WHIP and a 43/45 K/BB ratio across 46 innings of work. He’ll look to finish the season strong over the final two weeks.

Daniel Bard (forearm) threw a successful live bullpen session on Friday.
Rockies’ skipper Bud Black told reporters on Friday that he still expects the 38-year-old hurler to rejoin the team’s bullpen before the regular season concludes. Bard has struggled to a 4.70 ERA, 1.72 WHIP and a 43/45 K/BB ratio over 46 frames on the season.

Rockies placed RHP Daniel Bard on the 15-day injured list with right forearm fatigue.
Bard allowed seven earned runs in his last two appearances, and this injury could explain why. After a career year in 2022, Bard came crashing back to earth, posting a 4.70 ERA, 1.72 WHIP, and 43/45 K/BB ratio across 46 innings (47 appearances).

Daniel Bard walked four and gave up four runs in two-thirds of an inning to take a blown save and a loss Wednesday against the Nationals.
Bud Black made the dumbest managerial call of the year today, having Bard intentionally walk Luis García to load the bases after Bard had already walked two, hit a batter and given up two runs. It wasn’t even to set up a double play, as there were two outs. Of course, the next batter, Ildemaro Vargas, walked — on four pitches, no less — to tie the game, getting Bard lifted. Matt Koch then came in and gave up a game-winning single. The loss is on Bard, who was at his worst today while filling in for Justin Lawrence. Fortunately, the couple of other times this season that Bard has lost the strike zone, it hasn’t had any carryover effect.

Daniel Bard suffered a blown save against the Yankees on Sunday, giving up two runs on one hit and a pair of walks in his lone inning of work.
The 38-year-old hurler was brought on after the Rockies scored four times in the eighth inning to take a 5-3 lead. Bard then started his inning by plunking Billy McKinney and allowing an infield single to Gleyber Torres — on which McKinney scored on a throwing error. After getting Giancarlo Stanton to fly out, Bard walked Anthony Rizzo and DJ LeMahieu before allowing a game-tying sacrifice fly to Harrison Bader — on which Oswaldo Peraza was gunned down trying to advance to third base. It looks like the Rockies will continue to play musical chairs in the ninth inning for the time being.
