Orioles optioned RHP Colin Selby to Triple-A Norfolk
Selby pitched well for the Orioles, allowing two earned runs in six innings while walking four and striking out four. However, he threw 59 pitches in two games during the series against the Mets, so the Orioles will call up Nick Vespi as a fresh arm for the bullpen.

Orioles recalled LHP Nick Vespi from Triple-A Norfolk.
The Orioles are reshuffling their bullpen after a tough series against the Mets, so they’ll bring Vespi back up. The left-hander has a 3.18 ERA and 1.05 WHIP in 10 appearances out of the bullpen for Baltimore this season. Colin Selby was sent to the minors in a corresponding move.

Orioles recalled RHP Colin Selby from Triple-A Norfolk.
Selby was acquired from the Royals in a trade back in July, and he will now have a chance to make his debut with the Orioles. The 26-year-old will provide some multi-inning depth in the bullpen. Baltimore optioned Cade Povich to Triple-A to make room for Selby.
  • BAL Relief Pitcher #60
Orioles acquired RHP Colin Selby from the Royals in exchange for cash considerations.
Shelby was designated for assignment by the Royals last weekend after posting a 5.85 ERA in 20 innings at Triple-A. He also has a career 8.67 ERA over 27 MLB innings. He has been optioned to Triple-A Norfolk, and the Orioles moved Kyle Bradish to the 60-day IL to clear space on the active roster.
  • KC Relief Pitcher #60
Royals designated RHP Colin Selby for assignment.
Someone needed to get the boot from the Royals’ 40-man roster to make room for the triumphant return of Kris Bubic (elbow) on Saturday and unfortunately Selby drew the short straw this time around. There’s a decent chance that he’ll slip through waivers unclaimed and continue to function as extra bullpen depth at Triple-A Omaha.
  • KC Relief Pitcher #60
Royals optioned RHP Colin Selby to Triple-A Omaha.
Selby was up for a little under a week, and the Royals will send him back to Omaha to make room for Daniel Lynch on the active roster. Selby will likely be back in a low-leverage role at some point in 2024.

Royals recalled RHP Colin Selby from Triple-A Omaha.
Selby joins Kansas City’s active roster ahead of Tuesday’s showdown against Toronto after being acquired earlier this month from the Pirates in a small trade. The 26-year-old righty made 21 appearances (five starts) last year in his big-league debut.
  • KC Relief Pitcher #52
Royals acquired RHP Colin Selby from the Pirates for LHP Connor Oliver.
The 26-year-old hurler had been designated for assignment by the Pirates earlier in the week to free up a spot on their 40-man roster for Joey Bart. The Royals cleared a spot on their 40-man to accommodate the move by shifting Josh Taylor to the 60-day injured list.
  • PIT Relief Pitcher #52
Pirates designated RHP Colin Selby for assignment.
Selby has been removed from Pittsburgh’s 40-man roster to create space for newly-acquired backstop Joey Bart. The 26-year-old righty made 21 appearances (five starts) last year for the Pirates.
  • PIT Left Fielder #28
Pirates optioned OF Canaan Smith-Njigba and RHP Colin Selby to Triple-A Indianapolis; Optioned INF Tsung-Che Cheng to Double-A Altoona; Re-assigned INFs Termarr Johnson and Jack Brannigan to minor league camp.
Smith-Njigba, 24, showed off his tools during Grapefruit League play, hitting .200 (5-for-25) with three homers, five RBI and a pair of stolen bases. His time is coming soon, it just isn’t quite yet. Selby, on the other hand, struggled mightily during his spring action — registering an 11.25 ERA, 2.75 WHIP and a 4/4 K/BB ratio over his four frames. He should see action with the Pirates at some point during the 2024 season as well.
