Royals transferred LHP Cole Ragans from the 15-day to the 60-day injured list.
This puts him out until Aug. 6, but given that he’s just now starting to throw, he wasn’t going to be back before then anyway. Ragans last pitched on June 5 because of a rotation cuff strain. He might return during the middle of August, though the Royals could employ extra caution if they decide to sell at the deadline.

Cole Ragans (shoulder) has been cleared to resume throwing on Monday.
It’s a welcome development for the Royals, and fantasy managers, since it puts Ragans on track to return to the big leagues at some point in August, barring any setbacks. The 27-year-old fantasy ace hit the shelf back in mid-June with a rotator cuff strain. There should be a more definitive return timetable once he ramps up his throwing program over the next few weeks.

Cole Ragans (shoulder) will be shut down from throwing for at least two additional weeks before being re-evaluated.
Ragans received a second opinion earlier this week that confirmed the initial diagnosis of a left rotator cuff strain. The 27-year-old fantasy ace will be re-evaluated in early July to determine whether he’ll be cleared to resume throwing. There isn’t an official return timetable yet, but fantasy managers shouldn’t expect him back until at least some point in the second half, most likely not until late July or early August in a best-case scenario.

Royals’ manager Matt Quatraro told reporters on Thursday that Cole Ragans (shoulder) is getting a second opinion.
The Royals’ skipper noted that they’ll have a better idea on his status and how long he’ll be shut down for after he gets that second opinion, though he noted that Ragans will be out “a while.” It sounds like fantasy managers should unfortunately be bracing for an extended absence here.

Royals manager Matt Quatraro told reporters Wednesday they’re still awaiting imaging results on Cole Ragans’ left shoulder.
Quatraro added that they’ll make a determination on the severity of the strain and divulge a potential return timeline once they get those test results back. He also revealed that Ragans felt some shoulder soreness following last week’s start against the Cardinals and that they felt like some extra rest would resolve the issue. He felt some soreness while playing catch earlier this week, which prompted the additional testing that revealed a strain. The 27-year-old fantasy ace hit the shelf earlier on Wednesday afternoon with a left rotator cuff strain. Nothing official from the club yet, but fantasy managers should anticipate an extended absence.

Royals placed LHP Cole Ragans on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to June 8, with a left rotator cuff strain.
Oh dear. Ragans was highly ineffective in his start last week against the Cardinals, and it appears that he wasn’t at 100 percent while pitching in that outing. He’s out for at least two weeks, but there’s a great chance that this will be a longer stint on the shelf for the 27-year-old. Kansas City should offer a more concrete timeline soon.

Cole Ragans gave up five runs in three innings of work while not factoring into the decision Thursday against the Cardinals in game two of a doubleheader.
Ragans was making his first start since the middle of May with his groin strain, and it’s fair to say he was a little rusty. He walked three hitters while landing 47-of-78 pitches for strikes, and he clearly didn’t have his best command. He did strike out four, however, and the stuff looked just fine. He’ll be a risky option for his next scheduled start against the Yankees next week.

Royals activated LHP Cole Ragans from the 15-day injured list.
The 27-year-old southpaw will make his triumphant return to the Royals’ rotation for the nightcap of Thursday’s doubleheader against the Cardinals. He has been shelved since the middle of May due to a left groin strain. Prior to landing on the IL, Ragans had registered a 4.53 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and a 72/13 K/BB ratio over 45 2/3 innings through his first nine starts. Fantasy managers can feel confidant rolling him out there against the Cardinals on Thursday evening.

Wednesday’s game between the Royals and Cardinals has been postponed due to inclement weather.
Only Mother Nature can keep rookie sensation Jac Caglianone from stepping onto a big-league diamond anymore. Both teams were going to have to endure several hours of waiting out rain showers before an extremely late start, so they’ve decided instead to play a doubleheader on Thursday afternoon. Wednesday’s original starting pitchers— Noah Cameron and Miles Mikolas — will presumably take the ball at some point during Thursday’s twin bill at Busch Stadium. Royals ace Cole Ragans (groin) will return from the injured list to start the nightcap affair against Cardinals lefty Matthew Liberatore.

Cole Ragans (groin) will be activated from the injured list to start on Thursday against the Cardinals.
It’s official. Ragans will make his return to Kansas City’s rotation later this week after missing just under three weeks with a left groin strain. The 27-year-old southpaw’s return will provide a significant lift for fantasy managers. He’s posted a solid 4.53 ERA and 72/13 K/BB ratio across 45 2/3 innings (nine starts) this season.
