Cody Ross, who suffered a torn ACL on Sept. 2, probably won’t open next season in the majors, manager Alan Trammell said.
“That’s kind of a stretch to think that he’ll be full go come spring training,” Trammell said. “I think he’s going to be a little bit behind and the scenario is that he’ll probably have to go to Toledo again and earn it back, unfortunately.” Although Trammell seems to disagree, Ross didn’t do enough in Triple-A this year to show that he was ready for a job. He’ll probably need to spend at least half of next season in Toledo.

Cody Ross, who suffered a torn ACL last September, feels ready to compete for a job this spring.
“It feels great now. I feel I can do everything I could before,” he said. The plan is for Ross to open the season at Triple-A Toledo, but he could become a regular for the Tigers if anything happens to either Rondell White or Bobby Higginson.

Outfield prospect Cody Ross is expected to lead the list of Detroit’s September callups.
A.J. Hinch, Matt Walbeck, Andres Torres, Eric Eckenstahler, Seth Greisinger and Chris Mears are all considered strong bets for callups. Omar Infante and Matt Anderson are also candidates.

Dodgers prospect Cody Ross is on the DL at Triple-A Las Vegas after suffering a broken hand.
One of his family members accidentally closed a car door on his hand. Ross, acquired from the Tigers just before the start of the season, was batting .263/.322/.470 for Las Vegas.

Cody Ross went 2-for-4 with a three-run homer off Jake Peavy and a walk Sunday in the Marlins’ 7-3 win over the Padres.
Ross had been 2-for-16 since being acquired by the Marlins on May 26. He got the start today because Josh Willingham is still dealing with a hand injury.

Cody Ross hit his fourth homer and walked Thursday against the Braves.
Marlins manager Joe Girardi seems to have settled on Ross as his top choice to fill in while Josh Willingham is out. He has some short-term value in NL-only leagues.

Cody Ross is day-to-day with a bruised tailbone suffered Friday.
With Craig Monroe playing well, Ross probably would have been out of the lineup the last two days even if healthy.
