    Yankees released RHP Cody Morris.
Morris has been cut loose by New York after failing to make it back to the big leagues with the club following his arrival last offseason in a trade with the Guardians for outfielder Estevan Florial. The 28-year-old righty compiled a serviceable 4.03 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 46/26 K/BB ratio across 38 innings (26 appearances) last year for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. It’s possible he’s been jettisoned to pursue an opportunity overseas, but that remains to be seen.

Yankees sent RHP Cody Morris outright to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
The 27-year-old had been designated for assignment prior to the All-Star break, but he passed through waivers unclaimed and will continue to function as extra bullpen depth for the Yankees at the Triple-A level. He has registered a 4.25 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and a 42/26 K/BB ratio over 36 innings at the Triple-A level this season.

Yankees designated RHP Cody Morris for assignment.
The Yankees needed to free up a spot on their 40-man roster with Scott Effross returning from the 60-day injured list and unfortunately Morris was the odd-man out this time around. The 27-year-old hurler hasn’t pitched in the big-leagues this season, posting a 4.25 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and a 42/26 K/BB ratio over 36 innings at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. There’s a chance that he could generate some interest on waivers.

Yankees optioned RHP Cody Morris to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
Morris was up with New York for a handful of games as extra relief depth in the wake of Clarke Schmidt (lat) hitting the injured list. He’s been shipped back to the minors to make room for Cody Poteet to come up and take the ball on Saturday against the Giants in San Francisco.
  • NYY Relief Pitcher #82
Yankees recalled RHP Cody Morris from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
Morris provides New York with some extra lengthy out of the bullpen as a multi-inning relief option with Clarke Schmidt landing on the injured list with a lat strain. The 27-year-old righty has made 13 appearances (five starts) in the majors since 2022 and will be making his Yankees debut when he gets into a game. He’s pitched to a pristine 2.82 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 32/14 K/BB ratio across 22 1/3 innings (13 appearances, one starts) this season at the Triple-A level.

Morris was called up last Friday, but didn’t end up making an appearance for the Yankees before being shipped back to the minors. The 27-year-old righty figures to continue shuttling back and forth between New York’s bullpen and Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre over the next few months.

Yankees optioned RHP Cody Morris to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre; Re-assigned LHP Anthony Misiewicz to minor league camp.
Morris, who came over to the Yankees in the December deal that sent Estevan Florial to the Guardians, was blasted for a 10.80 ERA, 1.95 WHIP and a 7/5 K/BB ratio over 6 2/3 innings of work in his four Grapefruit League appearances. He’ll open the season as bullpen depth for the Yankees at Triple-A.
  • NYY Relief Pitcher #36
Yankees acquired RHP Cody Morris from the Guardians for OF Estevan Florial.
Morris was limited to just six relief appearances this past season for the Guardians due to a teres major strain in his right shoulder that he suffered back in spring training. The hard-throwing 27-year-old righty profiles as a potential swingman or multi-inning relief option for New York, but will likely open the 2024 campaign at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre as extra depth.
  • CLE Starting Pitcher #36
Guardians optioned RHP Cody Morris to Triple-A Columbus.
