Martin’s retiring from playing, but he’ll stay in the game, as he announced on his Twitter page that he’s accepted a scouting position with the Atlanta Braves. The 29-year-old appeared in 35 games with the Braves, Mets and Mariners over three seasons with a 6.33 ERA over 58 1/3 innings.

Martin was with the club for only two days, and worked three innings out of the bullpen during Friday’s loss to the Rangers. He’ll continue to function as organizational depth for both the bullpen and rotation at Triple-A.

Martin will be available out of the Mariners’ bullpen on Tuesday night, but he’s also an option to start Wednesday versus the Angels. The 26-year-old right-hander has a 2.70 ERA and 1.10 WHIP in 10 innings of relief this season at the major league level.

Martin has registered a 3.93 ERA, 1.25 WHIP, and 99/30 K/BB ratio in 103 innings this season at Triple-A Tacoma. He’s an iffy fantasy streaming option at Anaheim.

He’ll take the roster spot left by Joel Peralta, who was designated for assignment on Thursday. Martin carries a brutal 5.67 ERA over 12 outings for Tacoma this year including eight starts. He’ll be used in long relief.

He’ll provide depth in the M’s middle relief corps while Nate Karns is sidelined. Martin owns a 2.25 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 2/1 K/BB ratio in four innings with the big league club this season.

He gets the boot despite allowing just three runs over 10 relief innings across five appearances. Martin will be back in September with expanded rosters.

Cody Martin was sent down in the corresponding move. Walker will get the ball Tuesday against the Yankees following a short stint in the minors. The right-hander got off to a strong start this year but began to stall after a midseason foot injury hindered his effectiveness. For what it’s worth, he looked good in the minors with a 3.60 ERA in three starts for Tacoma.

The Mariners had to clear a roster spot for tonight’s starting pitcher, Taijuan Walker. Martin has made a couple starts this month and holds a 4.50 ERA over seven outings for Seattle this year. The 26-year-old could be back in the majors next week when rosters expand.

With James Paxton on the way back and Taijuan Walker perhaps ready to be recalled, Martin’s brief rotation stint should be coming to an end. On the plus side, the Mariners have won both of his starts since he was recalled a week ago.
