    Cody Martin announced his retirement.
    Martin’s retiring from playing, but he’ll stay in the game, as he announced on his Twitter page that he’s accepted a scouting position with the Atlanta Braves. The 29-year-old appeared in 35 games with the Braves, Mets and Mariners over three seasons with a 6.33 ERA over 58 1/3 innings.

    Cody Martin was sent down in the corresponding move. Walker will get the ball Tuesday against the Yankees following a short stint in the minors. The right-hander got off to a strong start this year but began to stall after a midseason foot injury hindered his effectiveness. For what it’s worth, he looked good in the minors with a 3.60 ERA in three starts for Tacoma.

    The Mariners had to clear a roster spot for tonight’s starting pitcher, Taijuan Walker. Martin has made a couple starts this month and holds a 4.50 ERA over seven outings for Seattle this year. The 26-year-old could be back in the majors next week when rosters expand.
