Rangers re-signed RHP Codi Heuer to a minor league contract.
It’s likely the deal includes an invite to spring training, but no official word just yet. The 28-year-old showed promise not long ago, but has dealt with injuries that have limited him to just 12 2/3 innings over his last three campaigns. If healthy, he could compete for a bullpen spot in the Cactus League, but he’ll need to be added to the 40-man roster to pitch for the Rangers.

Rangers signed RHP Codi Heuer to a minor league contract.
Heuer was non-tendered last November by the Cubs after undergoing surgery back in June to repair a fractured right elbow. The 27-year-old righty holds a serviceable 3.56 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 81/32 K/BB ratio across 91 innings (86 appearances) in the majors since 2020. He hasn’t pitched in the big leagues since the 2021 campaign due to injury.

    Cubs non-tendered RHP Codi Heuer.
Heuer underwent surgery in June to repair a fractured right elbow and hasn’t pitched in the majors since 2021 after undergoing Tommy John surgery. He’d be a lottery ticket for another organization following so much missed time.

Codi Heuer (elbow) has completed initial healing and range of motion of rehab.
Heuer underwent season-ending surgery for a fractured elbow back in June. While he has advanced through his early rehab steps, there is not yet a timeline for his return to the field. The 27-year-old last pitched in 2021, registering a 4.28 ERA with 56 strikeouts in 67 1/3 innings. He could be an option for the Cubs bullpen if he continues to advance through his rehab.

Codi Heuer underwent season-ending surgery on Friday to repair a fractured right elbow.
Heuer was making his way back from Tommy John surgery before suffering a fractured right elbow earlier this week. Barring any setbacks, he should be healthy for spring training.

Codi Heuer was forced from his rehab appearance Tuesday with an apparent arm injury.
Heuer, who is working his way back from Tommy John, threw a pitch way above the batter’s head and was in immediate pain before coming out. Sadly, it looked like a major setback for the 26-year-old, who appeared to be nearing a return to the majors.

Codi Heuer (elbow) is scheduled to throw for Triple-A Iowa this weekend.
Heuer began his rehab assignment over a month ago, but the Cubs were granted an extension as he works through some control issues. So far, the 26-year-old has posted an 8.74 ERA and 13/9 K/BB ratio over 11 1/3 innings in Triple-A as he makes his way back from Tommy John surgery.

Codi Heuer (elbow) will make another rehab appearance Saturday with Triple-A Iowa.
Heuer threw 1 2/3 scoreless innings with two strikeouts in his most recent appearance on Tuesday. The 26-year-old underwent Tommy John surgery in March of 2022, but appears on the verge of a return in the coming days.

Codi Heuer (elbow) will make a minor league rehab appearance on Tuesday for Triple-A Iowa.
Heuer is targeting an early-June return to the Cubs’ bullpen and will make another minor league rehab appearance this week. The 26-year-old righty is working his way back from last year’s Tommy John surgery, but isn’t too far off from contributing for Chicago.
