Angels acquired C Chuckie Robinson from the White Sox in exchange for cash considerations.
Robinson played in 26 games for the White Sox in 2024 and he hit just .129 with an OPS of 326 over 70 at-bats. He’s viewed as a strong defensive backstop, however, and will give the Angels some organizational depth behind Logan O’Hoppe and the occasional catching appearance from Travis d’Arnaud.

Edgar Quero has joined the White Sox as a taxi squad player and might be added to the active roster on Tuesday, according to Francys Romero.
There hasn’t been word of any injury to White Sox catchers, so if Quero is added, it might be as a replacement for Chuckie Robinson. Quero, 21, has hit .281/.368/.467 in 97 games between Double- and Triple-A this season, and he is widely viewed as the White Sox’s catcher of the future.

Korey Lee (back) remains out of the lineup for Saturday’s game against the Red Sox.
Lee remains sidelined after being scratched from Friday’s lineup due to back tightness. It’ll be Chuckie Robinson handling the catching duties in his absence.

White Sox recalled C Chuckie Robinson from Triple-A Charlotte.
With Martin Maldonado being designated for assignment over the All-Star break, the White Sox had a sudden need for a backup catcher behind Korey Lee, so Robinson will get an opportunity to show what he can do. The 29-year-old has hit .246/.292/.382 with seven homers and 32 RBI in 216 plate appearances at Triple-A Charlotte this season.

White Sox designated C Martín Maldonado for assignment.
Maldonado remains one of the better defensive catchers in baseball, despite his advanced age, but that doesn’t really matter for fantasy purposes where he’s been a complete non-factor for years. The 37-year-old backstop figures to have some appeal for a contender as a backup option given his defensive prowess, but he’s not going to have any sort of impact for fantasy managers, regardless of where he winds up next. According to Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times, it’ll be Chuckie Robinson coming up from Triple-A Charlotte to take his roster spot following the All-Star break.
  • CWS Catcher #37
White Sox selected the contract of C Chuckie Robinson and optioned him to Triple-A Charlotte.
This move puts Robinson on the 40-man roster and keeps him from opting out of his minor-league contract. The 29-year-old backstop could see time with the White Sox as a backup catcher before 2024 comes to an end.
  • CWS Catcher #67
White Sox signed C Chuckie Robinson to a minor league contract.
Robinson got into 25 contests for the Reds during the 2022 campaign, but didn’t make an appearance last season in the big leagues. The 29-year-old backstop hit .290/.356/.450 with 13 homers and seven steals across 413 plate appearances this past season for Triple-A Louisville.
  • Second Baseman #46
Reds optioned INF/OF Nick Solak and RHP Levi Stoudt to Triple-A Louisville; optioned RHP Lyon Richardson to Double-A Chattanooga; reassigned C Chuckie Robinson and RHP Jared Solomon to minor league camp.
Solak is the most prominent cut from Reds camp as he was in the mix for a spot on Cincinnati’s bench to open the regular season after being acquired last November from the Rangers in a small trade. The 28-year-old offers plenty of defensive versatility and figures to get a shot at some point this season with the Reds.

Reds re-signed C Chuckie Robinson to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
Robinson was pushed off the 40-man roster in Cincinnati at the end of the regular season, but he is now back in the fold as a depth piece for 2023. The 27-year-old catcher went 8-for-59 (.136) with zero walks and 17 strikeouts over his first 25 games as a major leaguer in 2022.

  • LAA Catcher #33
Reds sent C Chuckie Robinson outright to Triple-A Louisville.
Robinson cleared waivers after being removed from the 40-man roster. The 27-year-old backstop had just eight hits in his 59 at-bats with the Reds in a 25-game sample.
