  • NYM Starting Pitcher #45
Christian Scott allowed four earned runs in 5 2/3 innings on Wednesday against the Nationals in his return to the big leagues. He struck out two and walked two in a no-decision.
Scott’s night was ruined by a three-run home run from Luis García Jr. off a hanging sweeper with two outs in the sixth inning. Otherwise, this was a positive return to the show from the young right-hander. The Nationals stuffed their lineup with seven lefties to combat Scott’s fastball-sweeper combo and he responded by throwing a season-high 18% splitters to combat them. It was nice to see that adjustment, improved fastball command, and the Mets’ willingness to let him get up to 99 pitches. Scott has a lot of growing to do while also sporting a decent floor start in and start out.

Mets recalled RHP Christian Scott from Triple-A Syracuse.
Scott is back in the majors to start against the Nationals on Wednesday. Matt Festa was designated for assignment as the corresponding move. Scott has a 3.90 ERA and 25 strikeouts in 27 2/3 innings in five starts with the Mets this year. He’s worth streaming in leagues with daily transactions.

Christian Scott will start for the Mets against the Nationals on Wednesday.
It’s unclear if this will be one and done or if Scott might get to keep the spot for a spell. He certainly deserves a long look; he had a 3.90 ERA and a 25/6 K/BB ratio in 27 2/3 innings over five starts before the Mets sent him down a month ago, and he’s since posted a 2.12 ERA in Triple-A. He’s worth playing in mixed leagues this week.

The Mets are skipping Christian Scott’s turn in the Triple-A rotation and starting Mike Vasil on Monday night instead.
There is no reported injury for Scott, so skipping his start would seem to be a strong indication that he will be called up to take over Tylor Megill’s spot in the rotation. That could mean a start on Thursday against the Nationals. Scott should be scooped back up in all leagues in which he was dropped.

Mets RHP prospect Christian Scott struck out seven and allowed one run over five innings on Wednesday for Triple-A Syracuse.
It doesn’t figure to be an extended stay back in the minors for Scott after he was shipped back to Triple-A Syracuse last week in an effort to manage his workload. The 24-year-old righty, who has established himself as one of the top pitching prospects in baseball this season, authored a dominant performance in his return to the upper minors and it’s going to be hard for New York to justify keeping him out of the big leagues for much longer if he keeps pitching like this.

Mets option RHP Christian Scott to Triple-A Syracuse.
Scott complied a strong 3.90 ERA and 25/6 K/BB ratio across five starts for New York. The 24-year-old top pitching prospect is expected to return to the big leagues soon, according to ESPN’s Jeff Passan. Scott’s time in the minors coincides with the Mets having extra days off after their series in London and allows the club to manage his innings total.

Christian Scott went five innings and allowed two runs with four strikeouts in a no-decision versus the Diamondbacks on Thursday.
Scott gave up four hits while issuing one walk. The two runs came on a double that scored a pair off the bat of Ketel Marte, and outside of that it was a strong outing for the 24-year-old rookie. Scott has held his own in his rookie campaign with a 3.90 ERA and 21/5 K/BB over 27 2/3 innings. He gets another chance to impress next week with a scheduled tilt against the Nationals.

Christian Scott threw six innings on Friday and allowed two earned runs while striking out four and walking one. He left with the lead but wound up with a no-decision.
Scott had a strange start. He had just one swing and miss and no strikeouts entering the fifth inning of this one. His sweeper was off and the Giants were attacking his fastball. Yet, he still earned a quality start while retiring the final 12 batters he faced and punched out four of the last six. It’s starts like these, when a young pitcher clearly isn’t at his best, that instills so much confidence in the young right-hander. Bear in mind, he allowed another home run in this one. His third in 22 ⅔ innings after giving up seven in 25 ⅓ innings at AAA.

Adrian Houser will start on Tuesday against the Guardians.
Houser was scratched from his expected return to New York’s starting rotation last week, but appears in line to take the ball on Tuesday against Cleveland. The decision gives rookie Christian Scott a couple extra days of rest as he’ll take the ball on Friday against the Giants instead at pitcher-friendly Oracle Park.

Christian Scott allowed four earned runs across four innings on Friday in a loss against the Marlins. He struck out three, walked one, and allowed seven hits.
The Marlins jumped all over Scott for a four-run second inning with the big blow being a three-run home run from Nick Fortes. Scott is a strike-thrower which is one of his greatest qualities, but also caused his undoing in this one. He’s lined up to face the Giants next Friday as the Mets move into a six-man rotation.
