Giants selected the contract of INF Christian Koss from Triple-A Sacramento.
Koss winds up landing the final spot on San Francisco’s season-opening roster after hitting .325 (13-for-40) with one homer and one steal in 27 Cactus League games this spring. The 27-year-old infielder has spent the last few years bouncing around the upper minors and will make his big-league debut for the Giants when he gets into a game.
  • FA Right Fielder #82
Red Sox reassigned OF Narciso Crook, INF/OF Ryan Fitzgerald, INF’s Christian Koss and Nick Sogard and C Stephen Scott to minor league camp.
Crook is the most notable inclusion among the latest cuts for the Red Sox, but he batted just .125 (4-for-32) with two homers in 18 games this spring in Grapefruit League action. The 27-year-old outfielder, who got into four games last year for the Cubs, will presumably head to Triple-A Worcester as extra organizational outfield depth.

Christian Koss hit two homers, including a walkoff blast in the bottom of the ninth, to give the Red Sox a 7-6 win over the Rays on Friday.
The Red Sox actually got three homers out of that spot in the order, as Bobby Dalbec had one before Koss took over. The 24-year-old Koss was picked up from the Rockies for Yoan Aybar prior to last season, and he hit .271/.325/.451 for high-A Greenville in his first year in the system. He should move up to Double-A this season. He’s not viewed as a potential regular, but if he can get the OBP up some and hit 20 homers, he could be taken more seriously.

Red Sox acquired INF Christian Koss from the Rockies in exchange for LHP Yoan Aybar.
Koss, 23 in January, was a 12th round pick by the Rockies out of UC Riverside, and he performed well in the Pioneer League with .332/.447/.605 line along with 11 homers and 10 steals over 53 games for short-season Grand Junction.
