Reds activated 1B Christian Encarnacion-Strand and INF Matt McLain from the 60-day injured list.
Both CES and McLain were technically on rehab assignments in the Arizona Fall League, and since they were expiring, the Reds needed to activate them now, as opposed to after the World Series like the rest of the 60-day IL guys.

Christian Encarnacion-Strand (wrist) drove in three runs while going 2-for-4 for Glendale in the Arizona Fall League on Wednesday.
Encarnacion-Strand is playing in the Arizona Fall League after missing a large portion of the 2024 season with damaged ligaments in his wrist. The 24-year-old still has significant offensive upside, but a logjam of corner-infield options could make him a trade candidate this spring.

Christian Encarnacion-Strand, who resumed baseball activities earlier this month, will play in the Arizona Fall League.
Encarnacion-Strand is on the way back from surgery to repair a damaged ligament in his wrist. How he looks in Arizona will likely play a role in whether the Reds save a spot for him in their projected 2025 lineup. With Matt McLain hopefully reclaiming second base, the Reds would have Jeimer Candelario, Jonathan India, CES, Noelvi Marte and Santiago Espinal as corner infielder/DH options. Spencer Steer could also be part of that if the Reds bring in a starting outfielder.

Reds manager David Bell told reporters Christian Encarnacion-Strand (wrist) has been cleared to resume baseball activities.
Encarnacion-Strand underwent season-ending wrist surgery back in mid-July to repair ligament damage in his right wrist. The 24-year-old former top prospect should have a normal offseason and be a full-go heading into spring training.

Reds manager David Bell said that Christian Encarnacion-Strand (hand) has resumed baseball activities.
The 24-year-old first baseman has already been ruled out for the season, but it’s nice to hear that he’s already on the path to getting back into baseball shape. He should be ready to go for the start of 2025.

Christian Encarnacion-Strand underwent successful surgery on Friday to repair ligament damage on his fractured right hand.
The recovery time for the procedure is estimated at around three months. So while the 24-year-old slugger won’t be able to make it back this season, he should be able to have a relatively normal off-season and be ready to rock when spring training rolls around.

Christian Encarnacion-Strand will undergo season-ending right hand surgery on July 11.
Encarnacion-Strand has been out since late April after suffering ligament damage in his right hand when he was hit by a pitch. The 24-year-old slugger’s decision to undergo surgery to repair a ulnar styloid fracture on the inside of his hand near his wrist, will keep him sidelined until early October, and is basically going to end his season. He can be safely dropped in all re-draft formats, but is obviously worth stashing in all keeper and dynasty league formats. It’s unclear how he’ll rebound next year after ostensibly missing an entire season due to injury.

Reds transferred 3B Christian Encarnacion-Strand from the 10-day to the 60-day injured list.
There still hasn’t been any word on whether CES will opt for season-ending surgery on his right hand. This officially rules him out until July 7, but there was no chance of him returning prior to the break anyway.

Reds manager David Bell told reporters Tuesday that Christian Encarnacion-Strand has ligament damage in his right hand and is considering season-ending surgery.
Ugh. Not great. Encarnacion-Strand has been brought along slowly in his recovery from last month’s right hand fracture and was only recently cleared to resume baseball activities. The 24-year-old slugger has yet to be cleared to resume swinging a bat and it sounds like season-ending surgery hasn’t been ruled out as a potential option to address the ligament damage in his hand. Obviously his long-term health is the greater concern here, but it’s a tough loss for Cinciannti, and fantasy managers, if he’s not coming back this season.

Reds manager David Bell told reporters Saturday that Christian Encarnacion-Strand (wrist) is expected to start swinging a bat in a few weeks.
Bell added that Encarnacion-Strand will ramp-up his strength training next week and should be cleared to begin hitting again at some point in June. The 24-year-old slugger has been out since early May recovering from a right wrist fracture. It’s starting to look like he won’t return until sometime after next month’s All-Star break.
