Chin-Lung Hu’s minor league deal with the Phillies was voided after he failed his physical.
Hu latched on with the Phillies on Wednesday after being released by the Indians, but he’s now a free agent again. The 28-year-old infielder owns a .176/.225/.259 batting line over 214 plate appearances in the majors, so it’s no big loss.

Phillies signed INF Chin-Lung Hu to a minor league contract.
Hu signed a minor league deal with the Indians in January, but he was granted his release on Wednesday. The 28-year-old has a lousy .176/.225/.259 batting line over 214 plate appearances, so he’s unlikely to make an impact in the big leagues.
  • CLE 2nd Baseman
Indians signed INF Chin-Lung Hu to a minor league contract.
Hu, who turns 28 in February, made the Mets’ Opening Day roster out of spring training last year, but was sent down to the minors after going just 1-for-20 (.050) over 22 games. The former Dodgers’ farmhand is unlikely to make an impact in the big leagues.

Chin-Lung Hu, MVP of the Futures Game, is batting .541 in nine games since being called up to Triple-A Las Vegas.
Hu is hitting a combined .351 with nine home runs and 46 runs batted in between Las Vegas and Double-A Jacksonville. The Dodgers might be willing to part with the 23-year-old for a decent starting pitcher and his trade value will likely never be higher.

Chin-Lung Hu went 3-for-5 with a homer and a triple Saturday for Double-A Jacksonville.
Hu, a 23-year-old from Taiwan, is batting .330/.362/.493 in 209 at-bats while repeating Double-A. He currently projects as a major league reserve, but his glove is good enough that someone might want to give him a look as a regular shortstop.
  • CLE 2nd Baseman
Chin-Lung Hu left Monday’s AFL game because of a right hamstring problem.
Hu is hitting .273/.314/.394 in 33 at-bats in Arizona.
  • CLE 2nd Baseman
Double-A Jacksonville’s Chin-Lung Hu went 3-for-6 with a homer, a double and six RBI on Friday.
Hu is batting .329/.380/.508 in 325 at-bats as a Double-A repeater. He finished at .254/.326/.334 last season. His showing this year has given him considerable trade value, and the Dodgers should be open to moving him, as they’re unlikely to have a need at shortstop anytime soon.
  • CLE 2nd Baseman
Chin-Lung Hu went 2-for-5 and hit his first homer in the Arizona Fall League on Wednesday.
Hu is off to a 9-for-24 start in Arizona. He also held his own in the majors last month, hitting .241 with two homers in 29 at-bats. However, that did come with an 8/0 K/BB ratio. If Jeff Kent wants out of Los Angeles, the Dodgers could let Hu and Tony Abreu battle for the second-base job next spring. Abreu would likely enter camp as the favorite, but Hu could prove to be the better all-around player.

Chin-Lung Hu, fresh off his Futures Game MVP award, homered and douhled Thursday in his debut for Triple-A Las Vegas.
Hu raised his OPS more than 200 points as a Double-A repeater, hitting .329/.380/.508 in 325 at-bats for Jacksonville. The Dodgers will have the option of dealing him later this month as they attempt to find a starting pitcher or another quality bat.

Dodgers prospect Chin-Lung Hu was named MVP of the Futures Game in the World Team’s 7-2 win over the United States on Sunday.
Canadian Joey Votto and James Van Ostrand homered for the World Team. Hu, who is getting promoted to Triple-A Las Vegas after the break, went 2-for-2 with two RBI and a stolen base. Justin Upton hit the only homer for the U.S. team, though Jay Bruce’s 430-foot bomb to right-center would have gone out of 29 parks. It hit high off the wall at AT&T and resulted in a triple. Jeff Niemann took the loss after allowing three runs -- two earned -- in the first.
