The surprise here is that all three are ranked outside MLB Pipeline’s top 30 in Detroit’s system at the moment. They’ll all be guarded from selection in next month’s Rule 5 Draft.

Tigers acquired RHP Chase Lee and RHP Joseph Montalvo from the Rangers for LHP Andrew Chafin.

A sixth round pick by the Rangers in the 2021 MLB Draft, Lee is a sidearm reliever. The 25-year-old had a 1.69 ERA with 11 strikeouts in 10 2/3 innings at Triple-A this year and could factor into the Tigers bullpen plans soon.
