  • ATL Catcher #45
Braves optioned C Chadwick Tromp to Triple-A Gwinnett.
With Travis d’Arnaud and Sean Murphy both healthy, there’s simply no room for Tromp on the big league roster at the moment. Tromp has hit .250/.259/.365 with zero homers and six RBI in 54 plate appearances with the Braves this season. He’ll continue to bide his time at the Triple-A level until he’s needed once more.
  • ATL Catcher #16
Travis d’Arnaud is not in the lineup for Sunday’s tilt against the Padres.
It will be another day off for d’Arnaud after being removed from Friday’s game. Chadwick Tromp will get the start behind the plate in his absence. For now, d’Arnaud should be considered day-to-day.
  • ATL Catcher #45
Chadwick Tromp went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI in Thursday’s series finale against the Mets.
Tromp gave Travis d’Arnaud some rest in the series finale and was responsible for two of the Braves’ four runs on Thursday. The 29-year-old backstop doesn’t hold any fantasy value unless both Sean Murphy and d’Arnaud were injured at the same time.
  • ATL Catcher #16
Travis d’Arnaud is not in the starting lineup for Sunday’s game against the Phillies.
Atlanta will give Chadwick Tromp a start behind the plate while d’Arnaud gets a day of rest. Jarred Kelenic also takes a seat for Sunday’s contest with Adam Duvall patrolling left field.
  • ATL Catcher #48
Braves selected the contract of C Chadwick Tromp from Triple-A Gwinnett.
Tromp will be tasked with backing up Travis d’Arnaud after Sean Murphy suffered an oblique injury in Friday’s win over the Phillies. Tromp, 29, has seen limited action in the majors, slashing .222/.225/.414 with five homers over 40 games.
  • ATL Catcher #12
Braves’ manager Brian Snitker confirmed after Friday’s victory over the Phillies that Sean Murphy will be heading to the injured list with a left oblique strain.
Ugh. It’s a brutal blow for the Braves and for fantasy managers to lose a top catcher on the first day of the season. The Braves haven’t announced a potential timeline for his return, but it would be surprising to see him return before the end of April. In the meantime, Travis d’Arnaud becomes a very intriguing addition as he should see increased action in a deep and talented Braves’ lineup. Chadwick Tromp will be recalled from Triple-A Gwinnett to function as his backup.
  • ATL Second Baseman #22
The Braves reassigned INFs David Fletcher, Andrew Velazquez and Luke Williams, Cs Drake Baldwin and Chadwick Tromp and OF Eli White to minor league camp.
The move brings the Braves’ roster down to 28 players in spring camp. Two of those players are Penn Murfee and Angel Perdomo, who are expected to go on the 60-day IL so it appears Atlanta has it’s Opening Day roster ready to go. This also means that Forrest Wall will earn the 26th and final roster spot, if the team decides not to bring anyone else in. Wall made the postseason roster last season and after putting together a solid camp with a .971 OPS and 10 RBI across 33 plate appearances, he will be rewarded to start the 2024 season.
  • ATL Catcher #48
Braves re-signed C Chadwick Tromp to a minor league contract.
Tromp was non-tendered by Atlanta last week. He’ll again be the likely callup from Triple-A if the Braves lose a catcher at any point next year.
  • FA Catcher #48
    Braves non-tendered C Chadwick Tromp.
The 28-year-old backstop went 2-for-16 (.125) with a run scored and an RBI in his extremely limited action with the Braves during the 2023 season. He’ll latch on elsewhere on a minor league deal where he’ll continue to function as serviceable catching depth.
  • ATL Catcher #48
Braves optioned C Chadwick Tromp to Triple-A Gwinnett.
Sean Murphy recently had a hamstring issue, but the Braves no longer have the need for three catchers. Charlie Culberson is back to serve in a utility role.
