Astros signed INF/OF Cavan Biggio to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
The versatile 30-year-old will head into Cactus League play looking to secure a bench spot on the Astros’ Opening Day roster. Biggio hit just .174/.296/.246 with one homer, four RBI and a 21/11 K/BB ratio across 83 plate appearances with the Royals during the 2025 campaign.

Angels signed INF/OF Cavan Biggio to a minor league contract.
Biggio latches on with the Angels as emergency depth at Triple-A Salt Lake just a couple days after being cut loose by the Royals. The 30-year-old former top prospect posted a calamitous .543 OPS with one homer and one steal over 37 games this season for Kansas City.

    Royals released INF/OF Cavan Biggio.
Biggio has been cut loose to pursue opportunities elsewhere after passing through waivers unclaimed. The 30-year-old was designated for assignment last Friday after receiving just 83 plate appearances over 37 games with the Royals.

Royals designated INF/OF Cavan Biggio for assignment.
Biggio is booted off the 40-man roster with Hunter Harvey activated off the 60-day injured list. The 30-year-old was awful in his 82 plate appearances with Kansas City before being demoted to the minors back in May, and now he’ll hit the waiver wire. It won’t be surprising at all if he goes unclaimed, and he can either test free agency or report back to Omaha.

Royals optioned INF/OF Cavan Biggio to Triple-A Omaha.
It’s actually a bit surprising that it took the Royals this long to make the move. Biggio struggled to a .176/.300/.250 slash line in 82 plate appearances with one homer, four RBI and a 20/11 K/BB ratio. Expect a corresponding move to be announced on Sunday. Fantasy managers and baseball fans alike will certainly be clamoring for it to be Jac Caglianone that replaces him on the roster.

Cavan Biggio hit a solo homer to help the Royals to a win over the Orioles on Saturday.
It’s Biggio’s first homer of the season, and his first homer as a member of the Royals. Even with the roundtripper, he’s still hitting an ugly .191/.321/.255 while only being valuable to the Royals because of his versatility. It wasn’t that long ago that Biggio looked like a fantasy thing. Sometimes it doesn’t work out.

Maikel Garcia is leading off for the Royals in Game 1 of the doubleheader against the Rockies on Thursday and playing third base.
Garcia has been mainly hitting fifth in recent weeks, but with Jonathan India struggling and on the bench on Thursday, Garcia will get a shot to hit at the top of the order. This would be a big boost to Garcia’s fantasy value if he can remain at the top of the lineup. Michael Massey will hit sixth and play second base, while Cavan Biggio will bat fifth and play first base with Vinny Pasquantino at DH.

Jonathan India is not in the starting lineup Wednesday against the Rockies.
India has really struggled as of late, and is hitting just .195/.298/.244 on the 2025 campaign. He’ll get a break with Cavan Biggio lined up at second base in India’s absence. Michael Massey has also scuffled and will take a seat, with Maikel Garcia playing third.

Jonathan India, who missed Sunday’s game with right quad tightness before DHing on Monday, is out of the Royals lineup on Tuesday.
We’re going to assume this has to do with the quad. If healthy, he’d certainly be in the lineup against a left-hander in Max Fried. In his absence, the Royals have Maikel Garcia leading off and Cavan Biggio playing third base against a tough southpaw.

Cavan Biggio fanned all four times up Saturday in the loss to the Guardians.
We were mystified that Biggio even managed to make the Royals, and now he’s started eight of the team’s 15 games, all of them at premium offensive positions (he was at first tonight). He’s simply a bad hitter, and he’s particularly poorly suited to Kansas City’s home ballpark. There’d be so many better uses of his roster spot.
