Athletics prospect Casey Meisner pitched nearly seven shutout innings on Sunday for High-A Stockton.
Meisner allowed just two hits in his 6 2/3 innings, and struck out six. If there was one negative to the start, it was that he walked four hitters. Even with the walks, it was still nice to see the talented right-hander pitch well. He’s struck out 67 hitters in just under 58 hitters, and he has the stuff to suggest that’s sustainable. He might be a bullpen candidate, but there might be just enough here to allow him pitch in a rotation someday.

Athletics acquired RHP Casey Meisner from the Mets in exchange for RHP Tyler Clippard and cash considerations.
Ranked prior to the season as the Mets’ No. 21 prospect, Meisner has put up a 2.35 ERA with 89 strikeouts over 111 innings between Low- and High-A. The 20-year-old could wind up being a mid-rotation starter for the A’s if everything works out.

Mets prospect Casey Meisner took a perfect game into the seventh inning Friday for Low-A Savannah.
He finished with a season-high nine strikeouts. The 19-year-old is off to a good start with two wins and just one loss. His 1.78 ERA is fourth-lowest in the South Atlantic League. Meisner has worked hard to improve his release point and the changes seem to be working. The 6'7" right-hander hasn’t allowed more than two runs in any of his five appearances this season.

Cardinals acquired RHP Casey Meisner from the Athletics for RHP Josh Lucas.
The 22-year-old right-hander posted a 4.04 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 117/47 K/BB ratio across 133 2/3 innings between High-A Stockton and Double-A Midland for the A’s in 2017. He’ll add starting pitching depth for the Cardinals.
