Andrés Giménez was named as the Rawlings’ Gold Glove Award winner at second base in the American League, marking the third time that the defensive wizard has received the honor.
Giménez is widely known as one of the best defenders in all of baseball and it wouldn’t be surprising to see him also add a Platinum Glove to his mantle before all is said and done. Here’s the full list of Gold Glove winners in the American League (along with how many times they have won the award): C: Cal Raleigh (1), 1B: Carlos Santana (1), 2B: Andres Gimenez (3), SS: Bobby Witt Jr. (1), 3B Alex Bregman (1), P: Seth Lugo (1), LF: Steven Kwan (3), CF: Daulton Varsho (1), RF: Wilyer Abreu (1), UT: Dylan Moore (1).

Carlos Santana hit a three-run double in a win over the Marlins on Wednesday.
Santana tried to use his world-class speed to get to third on a triple on the bases-clearing double, but alas, it didn’t work out. It pushes his RBI total on the season to 68, and he’s been a respectable offensive option with a slash of .234/.321/.415. It wouldn’t be a surprise at all if Santana finds work again in 2025.

Carlos Santana went 3-for-4 with a double, a home run, and three runs scored in a win over the Reds on Sunday.
Santana is now up to 22 home runs and 65 RBI on the season in what has been yet another solid season for the 38-year-old. The veteran is having his best season since 2019, posting his highest home run total, batting average, and, most likely, RBI total since that season.

Carlos Santana is back at first base on Monday after missing Sunday’s game with an illness.
Santana is leading off tonight against the Angels. It’s the third time in the last five games that he’s done so against a left-hander. Before that, he hadn’t led off in a game since 2018.

Carlos Santana (illness) is not in the starting lineup for Sunday’s tilt against the Royals.
Santana was pulled Saturday because he was feeling sick, and he’ll get Sunday off as well. It’ll be Jose Miranda starting at first base in Santana’s place.

Carlos Santana was pulled from Saturday’s game against the Royals due to illness.
Santana went 0-for-2 before exiting. The 38-year-old was replaced in the lineup by Kyle Farmer. Santana should be considered day-to-day with a good chance to be back in the lineup in the coming days.

Carlos Santana is dealing with a minor left wrist injury.
Santana was clipped on the left wrist by a runner at first base during the final play of Thursday’s game against the Rays, but didn’t end up needing X-rays afterwards. It’s possible he’ll get a day or two off heading into the weekend, but it appears he’s avoided serious injury.

Carlos Santana slugged a two-run homer on Wednesday in a loss to the Rays.
Santana reached the 20-homer threshold for the second straight season, and ninth time in his career since 2010, when he took Rays reliever Tyler Alexander deep in the seventh inning during Tuesday’s one-sided affair at Tropicana Field.

Carlos Santana went 2-for-3 with a solo home run in a loss to the Rays on Tuesday.
Santana laced a pitch from Jeffrey Springs 395 feet for his 19th home run of the season. The veteran came into the day hitting just .212 in 38 games since the All-Star break with five home runs and 16 RBI. He remains a fixture in the lineup for the Twins and could be an option as a corner infielder in deeper fantasy formats.

Carlos Santana hit a game-tying homer in the top of the ninth Sunday against the Rangers.
Santana’s homer gave Kirby Yates his first blown save all year. Alas, the Twins went on to lose in 10 anyway, with Santana having the ball knocked out of his glove on the game-ending play after an errant throw to first from Jose Miranda made things too interesting.
